Chris_the_rover
The referee obsever agreed for a rovers official to run the line but couldn't as he wasn't part of covid testing regime It was then agreed for an unused rovers player to put the flag up only when the ball went out of playNaismith then kicked up almighty, stropping and spat the dummy well and truly Embarrassing from the manager and what looked like the city board too,Second half was played without a linesmanThe propper get it up you moment was city missing a second half pen, binnie making his 7th penalty save of the season

Would be interesting how Edinburgh felt if they were 2-0 up.

That would need to be an SPFL regulation.
Chris_the_rover
Game must have 3 officials. Should be interesting to see what the SPFL do? Second half shouldn't have started. Not even at a pub Cup game. No game must have 1 official,Added to that permission was gained by spfl so nothing will be donePlus city had to agree or they would have forfeited the match

Bay Citizen
Naysmith was quite right to protest. To have an opposing player running the line is a ridiculous situation to be placed in.No complaints about the result, we were absolute guff in the first half. At least we were improved in the second half, but that might be due to no linesman to call us offside [emoji23]I thought our new signing Robertson did well when he came on.

Chris_the_rover
How many times in the EOS league/Lowland league did city have linesmanProcess was followed The referee observer was in constant dialogue with both clubs through the full situationNaismith was some state and will probably cost you a playoff Place this yearCity are a shadow of the team they have been in previous yearsThey have now played a rovers team twice which has had players missing and not impressed at all

No doubt back in the day they would have played some EOSL games without them.

tamthebam
We used to quite often play East of Scotland games with "neutral" linesmen. I've done it myself on occasion and been abused by both sides! A City fan actually managed to get a Gala player booked for giving him abuse when running the line which was funny. So I personally wouldn't have been bothered with the Rovers lad running the line. If the referee observer was attending the game why didn't they get off their arse and help? At least they would have been "neutral". Also could an emergency call have been put out to one of the officials at a local West of Scotland game- they kicked off earlier and for example Gartcairn were at home and the Grade 2 or 3 might have been able to nip down to Cliftonhill. Anyway in the end Rovers won fair and square, No 7 Wilson looked decent, we were gutless, spineless, brainless and useless although Robertson looked like injecting a bit of urgency into the team. He should start against Forfar
Chris_the_rover
Regardless, an opposing player should not be in that position. The only reason it was a player was due to the fact noone else was allowed due to covid testingEdinburgh had the chance to nominate anyone of thir choice who was able due to testing they said noWhen it comes down to it all they were allowed to do was raise the flag when it went out of play, they weren't allowed to make a decisionThe only reason it kicked off was the face city were getting pumped in the first half and the board and management realises their only hope was to get the game abandoned and replayed
