VAR in la liga last night cherry picking an image from a set of handbags to send off a player being racially abused.

A classic example of VAR losing all context of a situation and seeking to send somebody off, this time with really bad consequences for the game, particularly in Spain.

But Scotland is the laughing stock, remember.

Premiership teams bringing in Maasai warriors coaches for how to jump in the box to not concede penalties for next season.

Lee Johnson scouting that for our next player as we speak.

If they can't tell that ball is over the line then how can they even pretend to call a marginal offside decision

That's a good point. Why not use the offside lines to see if the ball is over? Maybe they did.

I think it looks over the line, but I also think it's fair enough that it wasn't given because I can't say for certain that it was. But, as you say, we could say that about a lot of offside decisions.

Because offside is based on drawing lines on a calibrated 3D space.

Goals (or no goals) are based solely on the pictures.

I argued at length when VAR was introduced that they couldn’t use offside lines to determine goals (or not).

I think today proves I was right. If they were able to use the lines, they’d have shown them as they do for offside.

VAR and any tv punditry calling tight offsides is a nonsense anyhow, it depends when the video is paused as to the position of the players involved. Good half a yard of difference there when the foot is in contact with the ball and a player is sprinting forward while a defender is stepping up.

Regardless, VAR is a crime against humanity and needs permanently removing from the game.
