**The Official P&B Christmas 2021 Thread**

My kids won’t be with me until Boxing Day, so will probably end up getting a Chinese or a kebab for dinner, but going baws out on Boxing Day. My youngest son loves Cola Ham so will definitely be doing that, Turkey crown too, maybe a joint of pork marinated in olive oil, garlic, thyme and Parmesan cheese.

Food is the best bit about Christmas, no question.

Lovely idea for a thread, especially with regards to leaving negativity at the door.

The wife's not working this year and my mum will be coming up here to spend a few days with us.  MIL and FIL will be joining us briefly in Christmas Day morning before they head to BIL's house for dinner.  Our son only turns 2 in February.. a wonderful stage at the moment.

A turkey crown, stuffing, ham, tatties, salad will be the order of the day as well as pigs n' blankets.  Thinking we'll have plenty left over for the traditional ham or turkey sandwiches/toasties in the following days.

We'll watch The Snowman at some point - a tradition we've kept up over the years.  Unsure why though, as the ending is depressing!

Have bought the wife a jacket, thick wooly socks, a pick n' mix, a book about Tudor history and a Mighty Boosh mug.  Completely random sounding, but they make perfect sense to us.  I'm expecting to receive a Levi's jacket.  Asked the wife not to buy me anything else, but she keeps talking of 'wee things for me to open' anyway.

The wee man, however, will receive the Rangers 150th anniversary Rangers strip, UK geographical sticker map for his wall, as well as a whole assortment of toys from us and others.

Church will be attended on Boxing Day.

The older I get, the more I just enjoy being able to relax and spend time together as a family, so I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm trying to make tenuous connections to enable us to classify films as Christmas movies.

Goodfellas is a Christmas movie - features Darlene Love song and Henry buys the biggest tree they had.

Eastern Promises is a Christmas movie - they have a nice Russian dinner for Christmas then go out drinking in a Kurdish place.

Looking forward to introducing my three year old to both over this festive period!

But you don't go on Christmas day? The big day?

That's the only day of the year we go but don't think we are going this year. Suits me.

Fair play mate.

I don't actually think my Church does the Christmas Day thing unless it's on a Sunday to be honest.  I should really know these things given I'm a member.

If they open the doors on Christmas Day then I doubt I'll go.

Watched Nativity last night. Not as good as 2. The correct ranking of the series from worst to best is:

3- flashmobs? Utter shit

4- Nativity rocks. Rocks like Cliff Richards or Busted rock.

1- Martin Freeman stalks ex girlfriend who takes him back as her self esteem has been crushed by her own career failure. Heartwarming.

2-evil twin is great and i still haven't worked out how the donkey got off the cliff. They abduct a baby.

Trying to convince the mrs that the kids can watch gremlins (i think it's a 15 and they're 9 and 11) but they'll have to wait another couple of years for Die Hard.

Just about to go and buy a fuckton of booze from a local specialist retailer, a sort of yearly tradition now. Means we always have a strategic reserve or emergency gift option. Obviously things weren't great last year so I/we ended up consuming much of it. Either way it's a win.

Will do the same thing with a couple of trays of pigs in blankets. Following a disastrous burning incident (not by me of course) a few years back I've always kept a couple of back ups in the freezer.

If we don't need them, great. At some point in the new year I'll privately disgrace myself with them as a January pick me up.

ps Die Hard is not just a Christmas movie, it is the best Christmas movie.

Flying over on the 23rd with a cottage in Pittenweem booked to get the three adult kids, hopefully their partners and the in laws together in one place from the 24th to the 27th. Mrs B has the Morrison's delivery booked for food, drink and stocking fillers for the "weans".

Planning to eat, drink, be merry and play some daft games to get us all laughing at the end of a less than optimum year. Wee Nippy seems to be choking to put a spoke in my wheel but she can shove it. It's happening!

Enjoy it, everyone.

For three days? Guaranteed multiple homicide IMHO.

I recently discovered that Batman Returns is a Christmas movie.

There’s some miserable old sods on here. That sounds like a good Christmas to me!

This is the first year my daughter hasn't been all excited about it. She is 11 and it has just passed. She handed us a list of stuff she would like from the Smyths catalogue a few weeks back, so I'm guessing she is in the know.

Drinking and eating, yes. Visiting my folks, probably on Boxing day. We'll probably have the rest of the day like a normal day - I'll watch something with the kids, the wife will game with her friends on the PS, then we'll all watch something together or play a board game.

I am utterly not in the Christmas mood yet. I know from experience that this will only happen once I have all presents sorted out. Then and only then can I relax into the thing.
