LongTimeLurker
...then the next day after various unacknowledged concessions had no doubt been obtained the Russians bomb Odessa's port calling the whole thing into doubt. People need to wise up when dealing with Putin.
Michael W
The UK has now placed an additional 35% tariff on imported Russian fish as part of the latest round of sanctions. I suspect were it not for the current problems with prices going mental that this probably would've happened sooner. Nevertheless, 50% of the world's white fish is from Russia. I am not sure what the percentage of Russian origin white fish sold in the UK is, but neverthless this is not something that can just be sourced from elsewhere.

Silvio Tattiescone
Bloomberg reports, food exports from occupied Crimea have increased 50-fold since the war began. Already this year, at least 462,000 tons of food have been shipped from the port of Sevastopol versus just 8,000 tons the year before. I wonder where the thieving Russian b*****ds got all that grain?
Detournement
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/07/25/world/europe/ukraine-kherson-russia-counterattack.html I'm sure the people in Kherson are delighted to hear they can look forward to depleted uranium and birth defects.

vikingTON
Quote On Monday, the Russian state-owned Gazprom announced it would further halve gas deliveries to Europe via Nord Stream 1 from Wednesday, to 20% of the pipeline’s capacity. The company cited equipment repairs to a previously unnamed turbine, a reason that the German energy minister, Robert Habeck, described as a made-up pretext and a “farcical story” on Monday night. “Putin is playing a perfidious game,” Habeck told the news agency dpa. “He is trying to weaken the great support for Ukraine and drive a wedge into our society. To do this, he stirs up uncertainty and drives up prices. We are countering this with unity and concentrated action.” As opposed of course to unilateral Western and EU sanctions, which are entirely different to this perfidious Russian game for... reasons. Can someone, any actual adult please raise their hand to take over at least one European government please. Because this 'it's not fair!' squealing when consequences inevitably follow dumb actions will have Bismarck spinning out of his grave like a Catherine wheel soon enough.
