TxRover
Looks like the Ukrainians have been seriously f**king around with the Russian command structure weaknesses and the inability of the lower level commanders and troops to display the ability to think. Nothing like the balls of painting a “Z” on your captured T-72’s, driving into the middle of a Russian formation and then trusting the equipment to keep you from fragging another friendlies also wearing “Z”s. https://warisboring.com/ukrainian-troops-reportedly-using-tracking-systems-deception-to-infiltrate-russian-lines/

Detournement
BBC war reporting is basically Blair Witch Project style shaky camera work. -

LongTimeLurker
Seems a bit farfetched but it's the Wall Street Journal rather than the National Inquirer:

welshbairn
This thread's suggesting that the Wagner lot are doing anti military establishment propaganda. If it's 'Putin's chef' Yevgeny Prigozhin getting ambitious, how high does he want to go?

It’s a nice theory, but misses a few things. The Kherson defensive positions are isolated on the shore of a large river, with very little in the way of easy resupply options. As the UAR advance, they are bringing more and more of the river under the cover of their tube artillery (accurate, quick to respond, available). The area is already “in range”, but requires the guns to be too close to the frontlines right now. Add another 10 miles of advance, and the entire river can be interdicted, as can supplies to the defenders. More interestingly, the beginning point to the water supply for Crimea then lies within range too, and determined shelling could potentially either block or reduce the capacity of the canal.
dorlomin
Does not mean they are headed to Ukraine, just that there is now a pretty wide desire to send modernish tanks there in the European Parliament. It will still all hang on the Bundeskanzelor and his appetite for the risks. Edited October 6, 2022 by dorlomin

welshbairn
No surprise that the Swedes and Danes have found evidence of explosives being used to blow up the Nord pipelines. Presumably they'll be able to tell if the blast came from the inside or outside. Was just thinking it might have been possible to send a suicidal robotic vehicle laden with a match to ignite the gas, from either end? Or with TNT.. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/kremlin-says-russia-not-invited-nord-stream-investigation-2022-10-06/ Edited October 6, 2022 by welshbairn

The CIA have always wildly overestimated the military might of Russia/SU at the behest of the US defence industry and their local Senators and Congressmen.

I imagine though that even in its dormant state, the receiving end would know if there was a pig in the line because it needs gas to push it..... So something self propelled then.... Some sort of drone. Wouldn't imagine its beyond the realms of fairly simple technology.
