I'll take that wild attempt at deflection as your humiliating climbdown.

Er, no. You can make silly assumptive statements all you want, but it still doesn’t change the fact you were wrong and called on it. To call noting the potential results of applying an ill-considered statement in other situations deflection is akin to a person who has murdered their parents asking the court for mercy because they are an orphan. But carry on, you always do.

No it clearly isn't wrong to state that Russia has been rolled back to its 17th century borders. That is a categorical fact. And it isn't wrong to state that all constituent parts of the pre-1917 empire in Europe - with the singular exception of Finland - were in fact considered and treated as 'Russia'. Including Crimea which was only signed off as a blood debt by Khrushchev in the 1950s.

You simply bumping your guns endlessly about 1917 is totally irrelevant to a state that has a continuous history of one thousand years. In the exact same way that the creation of an Irish Free State around that same time was neither the beginning nor the final word in the relationship between Britain and Ireland.

We are just supposed to forget the Budapest Memorandum apparently:

Thanks for confirming my point that Putin is opposed to the post-1989 order, which he does indeed consider to be illegitimate.

I see that you are willing to accept one state entities “historical” boundaries as the maximum extent of their range while ignoring other claims and states…are you a Czarist, Marxist, Leninist, Stalinist, Communist or Russian Nationalist is the remaining question. Go read some Mao and reflect.

According to NewsNow articles:

Wagner & Co apparently building fortified defence lines in Belgorod Oblast, Russia.

Lukashenko warning Belarussians that they have a major "choice" to make soon.

The Belarus media has been transfered to he control of Russia.

Does this mean that Belarus is to officially become a part of Russia?

Surprised by how downbeat Russian TV is about their immediate prospects right now given the way Ukrainian advances seem to have slowed:

Can confirm that Russians called Alexander get called Sash colloquially like this which always made me smile when I was in Russia

Once the bridge is within range of M-777 then the ferries that replace it will be and retreat could become bloody.

M-777 is the main western artillery system that we have donated.

To be fair you usually want your artillery a bit behind the lines, but this could be valuable enough to lose a few systems for.

Very doubtful that the Shetland cable is sabotage.

Why? Russia targeting undersea comms has been a security threat the UK worried about since long before Ukraine.

Could be a quiet threat demonstration to the UK and NATO I suppose, that neither side will necessarily want to make public.

True but undersea cables do get damaged fairly frequently. The authorities think it’s more likely a fishing boat snagged it. The other part of the cable was damaged last week. The damage to this cable isn’t complete, there are still some fibres undamaged.

Its not impossible that this was deliberate damage by Russia but the other explanations are probably more likely.
