Could be that he faked his death? Especially after reports a second plane he owns took off sometime later then returned to Moscow.

Was thinking this too. He's not stupid. Must have know flying in a jet over Russia would be a near enough death sentence.

Actually not great for Putin. Aye, he gets revenge, but either domestically he has to spin it that it was an accident and surely not even the Russians would believe that. Or, blame it on a Ukraine drone, which shows that Russian skies aren't secure.

C4 news made out that it would be unusual for Putin to make an assassination so public, like polonium in London and Novachok in Salisbury were meant to be discrete?

Same sort of Guardian reading and latte sipping clowns that think Ukraine could swap some territory for peace at this point and live happily ever after. Should have been obvious a long time ago that Russia is a mafia state and that this is therefore about restoring Putin's credibility as its godfather after his former chef made him look weak. Only surprise is that it took this long.

Another example of Putin's tactic of murdering dangerous opponents, the very public assassination of Nemtsov just outside the Kremlin walls, the weak and pale imitation Navalny merely had his pants poisoned and was thrown in jail.

AS I recall, the response to the polnium thing was outright denial, and as for Salisbury, Putin's response was pretty much a sneery laugh.

He didn't give a sh*t about other countries'   response or opinions.

Prigozhin and Utkin literally went down in flames. I hope Wagner now dies with them. Even if it continues on in all but name, just the "brand" ending would still be a small win.

He makes sure that everyone on the planet knows what happens to a traitor or anyone who stands against him though. The plane crash might have been an accident, or a very public revenge on behalf of the Russian airforce for the pilots of their planes and helicopters shot down on Wagner's route to Moscow.
