Russian invasion of Ukraine

Looks like a difficult situation for Ukraine on the area of the latest Russian incursion. There’s been reports that the Russian advances have slowed and Ukrainian troops have taken more advantageous positions but the town of Vovchansk looks like it will fall.

Ukraine has also launched a large drone attack via sea and air against a variety of targets in Crimea and Russia last night, hitting air fields and oil facilities, as well as the port in Sevastopol.

Seems like Russia is taking the offensive along  various parts of the front and maybe will ramp up in another part, maybe Kharkiv or around the North East.

Prime time for them to keep the forever war going before Ukraine gets more military aid and bodies from mobilisation.

A bit surprised Ukraine didn't put more obstacles in the way like Russia successfully did in the South, maybe they were too busy on other fronts.

Multiple reports that Russia may be willing to cede 9% of its territory, in the Far East, to China to pay for its assistance. The areas have been claimed by China for decades, and reports indicate much of the area is effectively Chinese already.

If by multiple reports you mean, a rehash of a story in a Japanese newspaper and blog run by a bunch of American fruit loops, sure.

When shameless grifting for cash from the security services finds its USP:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/may/30/europe-on-high-alert-after-suspected-moscow-linked-arson-and-sabotage

Quote

Investigators have already alleged potential Russian involvement in an arson attack in east London, an inferno that destroyed the largest shopping mall in Poland, a sabotage attempt in Bavaria in Germany and antisemitic graffiti in Paris.

While there is no evidence that any of these incidents across the continent are coordinated, security services believe they could be part of a systemic attempt by Moscow to destabilise the west, which has backed Ukraine.

So... as much evidence behind this conspiracy as the one about the British royal family being lizards from outer space, but the Western liberal media peddles the former in a breathless tone regardless.

My personal highlight being the anti-Semitic graffiti in France, because there are of course no historical, domestic political, or international factors that could possibly explain that. Big bad Puuuuuuuuu-tin clearly paid for it and ran away.  🤡

Looks like the Kerch crossing ferries are under threat again. Russia claiming no real damage, Ukraine suggesting otherwise. The main damage may have actually been at a nearly Naval base, suggesting the missiles and drones sent against the ferries could have been part of a decoy mission.
