Away supports

Recommended Posts

Dundee Utd, Motherwell, Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen are all pretty good. Dundee brought a decent crowd too, and were very vocal.

It's only Livingston, St. Johnstone and Ross County who don't seem to bring many.

Hibs, Celtic and Rangers always turn up in big numbers. Aberdeen not bad either.

Are we just talking number here? Or is it a discussion about what else the away support bring.

Not so much numbers but PASSION.

St Johnstone had one of the smaller away followings this season but they’ve been the best fans at Livingston so far. They made good noise and still had about 400 odd despite it being Tuesday night and sat at the bottom of the league.

Cool. I’ve not really got much to offer on this one. 👍

Think away support numbers usually just correlate with average home attendances. Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen will always bring a big crowd and sell most of their allocation. Then United, Dundee, Motherwell and Killie all bring decent numbers with maybe St Mirren as well. I agree that St Johnstone fans have been great all season, I think it's maybe something to do with their "ultras" ban being lifted by the club this year.

Away supports have definitely dropped away over the years.

Probably a lot to do with costs of public transport / rail which are prohibitive. A return to Dundee or Aberdeen from the central belt is a lot of beer money.

Always been the Old Firm followed by Hearts, Aberdeen, Hibs, St Mirren, Killie, DDee Utd, Dundee, St Johnstone and then a handful from Livi and Ross C.

When allowed (pre / post Covid) old firm are 4500+. Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen depends on how they are performing. Anywhere between 1000 and 3000. Killie and St Mirren tend to be 500-1000 unless a cup or important game and u could possibly double that.

Aberdeen generally bring the most up to Dingwall.

Hearts, Hibs and Dundee Utd then just behind them.

After that Miotherwell, Dundee and St. Mirren bring reasonable crowds as do Caley, though their fanbase appears to be falling off.

I think from the lower leagues Dunfermline, Partick and Falkirk used to bring decent followings.

The St Mirren away support have always been great. Not only in numbers to the majority of grounds ,but also in the backing they give. Today was a perfect example of that. Looking like we were heading for a narrow defeat, the crowd rallied and helped the team find a way of getting something from a game that looked unlikely.  Definitely the 12th man on many occasion.

Tell me about it. Oor Wullie did everything he could to make sure we got no advantage.

Aberdeen have the best away support in the country outwith the OF. When you consider we've to travel accumulatively longer miles, it's without doubt.

Always thought Hearts and Hibs were disappointing in that respect. We bring far more  to their stadiums than they to ours.

I would take any opportunity to leave Aberdeen for a day too.

Always loved the Aberdeen support. The song they sing that goes "Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Aberdeen" and also "Let's go you reds!"

Class from a Dundee fan.
