But at least they haven't been wound up, unlike their city rivals : - "During season 1904-05 the club ran into financial difficulties because the original limited company, formed in 1903, was unable to continue, after debts amounting to £1,400 had accumulated. Accordingly, in March 1905 at the Quarterly General Meeting, a resolution was presented: “A Proposal for Temporary Loans from Present Shareholders.” This was defeated by 94 votes to 72, but later that month, three resolutions were passed and the company was voluntarily wound-up."

I agree.  Flat track bully can be a legitimate criticism of club's achievements, but it's an odd one to use of an individual player.  The best players will congregate at the richest clubs.  In many leagues those clubs have a massive economic advantage, and will feature in one or two horse races. 

The better a player is, the more likely he is to end up at a club that are "flat track bullies".

That makes sense if you’re talking about players at Man City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich etc but there are an awful lot of clubs bigger and better than Celtic who were (apparently) interested in Brown.
 

And it’s more than just the fact that he was happy to stay at a level where he was so comfortable that marks him out as a flat track bully, it’s the way he carried himself as he did it, lording it over younger players and journeymen eking a living out of the game. If he’d gone down south and punched up with the same attitude with which he consistently punched down in Scotland he could’ve come across as a completely different player & character. No-one described Henrik Larsson as a flat track bully, for example.

Scott Brown's era consisted of stumbling from one disheartening disaster to another. If Scott Brown had never kicked a ball for Scotland, we'd have lost nothing of any note.

Just picking up on this idea that qualifying for a major tournament and then getting papped out of it straight away makes someone's caps worth more than someone that played in qualifiers only.  Football being a team game makes individual comparisons  pointless which is on a par with your posts.
