Of course, not going to turn it down, & nothing against Cowden for grabbing the opportunity that has been presented; but equally there surely can't be a Cowden fan that can argue against that it should have been UoS that were offered it?

Annoying that we didn't earn it.

No chance we were going to say no!

Will absolutely be in attendance for all the matches though 😎

Those with a suspicious mind will say it's their reward for all the hard work they put in pulling the wool over everyone's eyes wrt conference league vote. In the end it didn't work out this year but a deal is a deal.

The above are not necessarily my personal thoughts or opinions.

Extremely amateur bait there.

Tell that to the SPFL there has never been a precedent for this situation first time its happened. Imagine if it happens next year Rovers will get an invite if the don't win the league.

There's not been a precedent for an additional team being required to join the HL+LL champions, apart from the previous two years where one of the runners-up joined.

Now this new precedent has been set I expect next season the extra place will be offered to the team who finishes 15th in the Highland League.

Keith must be gutted. So close...

Aye but those seasons the Scottish Football giant that is Cowdenbeath FC were already in the draw. Really not hard to follow.

Should have been our good friends from Berwick getting in last season then.

Totally agree but at the same time buckie thistle would feel hard done by the extra place going to lowland league club. I think thats why they’ve done it as last spfl team that was eligible. Certainly no complaining from our end as its a good cash booster

The SPFL made a draw in 2021/2 between the 2nd placed teams in the Lowland and Highland Leagues.  East Kilbride were successful.  Buckie Thistle (2nd in Highland league) were invited in for 2022/3 without a draw.   Assumption was that the extra place would alternate although I doubt if that was ever cast in stone.

Yeah I was thinking that if we could get in a group with Dunfermline or Raith and get them at home, maybe a glimmer.

Nah us at home to Cove Rangers. Sky will be racing to Central Park.

If only there was a clue in the competition name that helped identify who broadcasts the games... 😛

Seems bizarre that you have got an invite (would be interesting to see if there was anything written about the entry list as in the past it was known in advance that there would be a play off between HL and LL runners up and that - and Challenge Cup entry - was something that was mentioned when Kelty made the jump to the seniors.

Could be a group with us, you, the Rovers, East Fife and some nearby top seed like Livi or St Johnstone which would be handy for travel and potential crowds.
