Aberdeen, St Mirren and Livi are all eliminated from Champions League contention.

Dundee Utd become the first team consigned to the bottom 6.

The last round of fixtures saw County and Killie consigned to the bottom 6.

County's defeat to Livi left them unable to catch the Lions while Killie's draw coupled with the Livi victory means that Derek McInnes will miss out on the Top 6 as a manager in the Premiership for the first time since his St Johnstone days (not including his first few months at the Dons.)

Looking ahead to the upcoming weekend fixtures.

Hearts will clinch a top 6 spot with a victory over Kilmarnock coupled with a Livingston victory over St Mirren.

Motherwell will finish in the bottom half if they lose to Hibs. A draw will see the same outcome if the Livi v St Mirren game is anything other than a draw. A win and the dream will still be alive.

St Johnstone could also be guaranteed bottom 6 football this weekend if they lose to Aberdeen and both Livi and Hibs win.

So with nothing decided over the weekend. We move on to round 31 of the Premiership season.

Hearts have a couple of scenarios in which they could secure a top half finish. Victory over St Mirren being the simplest, a draw will suffice if Livi lose to Motherwell.

Barry Robson's Dandies will make the Top 6 if they beat former boss Derek McInnes' Killie at Pittodrie and either Livi fail to win or Hibs lose to Dundee Utd.

Motherwell must avoid defeat against Livi to keep a European dream alive. A draw would be enough if Hibs lose to Dundee Utd. A victory may still see them consigned to the bottom 6 if both Hibs and St Mirren win.

St Johnstone must beat County and hope that 2 of the following don't happen

1. Livi win

2. Hibs win

3. St Mirren get at least a point

I think that is our top 6 place confirmed.

Yes. St mirren can get to 50, hibs can get to 49 and Livingston can get to 45. That means hearts could theoretically still end up in the bottom 6. Unlikely but still possible.

Among other results, It would also require a 20 goal swing in Livingstons favour in the next two games.

Unlikely is an understatement to be fair.

We're due some goals. Martindale's plan all making sense now.

Last season's final table after 38 games vs this season at match 31 shows just how far teams were tripping over themselves to f**k up last season.

3 sides, plus Hibs if they win tomorrow, already more or less at the points total that secured Motherwell European football last season.

On the other hand, 61 is very unlikely to be required for third.

So the famous become the 3rd side to ensure top 6 football which seems utterly bizarre considering where we were a couple of months ago. I had the genuine fear of being in a relegation battle.

St Johnstone's defeat means they will finish bottom half. While Motherwell keep the dream alive.

On, then, to round 32 where managerless Hearts will look to finally clinch a top 6 slot. A draw in the Edinburgh derby would suffice and defeat will be enough if Livi fail to beat St Johnstone.

The buddies will secure top 6 if they draw at Ibrox and Hibs don't beat Hearts. Defeat for St Mirren coupled with a Hibs defeat or Livi failing to beat St Johnstone will see them battle it out for the European places.

The good news for Hearts and St Mirren us that if they do get dragged into the bottom 6, they can't finish bottom.

Hibs could also be assured of a Top 6 slot if they win the derby and Livi lose.

If Livi avoid defeat it will definitely give them a mathematical chance of reaching the top 6 in the last round of pre-split fixtures. Defeat for Livi coupled with a Hibs win will see the Top 6 finalised before the final round of fixtures.

A defeat for Motherwell would end European ambitions. A draw would keep them in the hunt if Hibs lose the derby and Livi don't win. However, it is out of their hands as even a win wouldn't be enough if Hibs beat Hearts. All in all, an intriguing week ahead.

With the post split fixtures now published we can speculate as to what may happen in Round 34.

Celtic will be champions if they beat Hearts in the 2.15 kick off on the Sunday. They will also be Champions if they and 'Rangers' have the same result.

Nothing else can be decided in the Top 6.

Livi are already safe from the automatic drop but will be safe from the playoff if they beat County. A Livi win coupled with Killie and Utd failing to win will secure a top 9 finish for the men from West Lothian.

Motherwell will be safe from automatic relegation if they beat Killie and County lost to Livi. Those circumstances will also ensure that County can finish no higher than 9th.

Livi are totally safe while Motherwell require one more point to secure Premiership football for next season.

If St J beat Motherwell they will be safe from the automatic drop if Dundee Utd and Ross County draw at the weekend.

In the Top 6.

Aberdeen will clinch a Top 5 finish with a win at Pittodrie over Hibs or if they better St Mirren's result against Hearts.

The Dons could also seal a top 4 finish if they beat Hibs and St Mirren and Hearts draw.
