Goals - Glenavon v Swifts https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/63187715

Ballymena v Ports https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/63186709

and no goals at the Showgrounds https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/63187718

Top Larne P 8 Pts 20, second (on goal difference) Glentoran P 7 Pts 19, third Cliftonville P 8 Pts 19, fourth Crusaders P 9 Pts 17, fifth Coleraine P 9 Pts 16, sixth Linfield P 7 Pts 13

Bottom half: seventh Carrick Rangers P 9 Pts 13, eighth Glenavon P8 Pts 9, ninth Ballymena United P 8 Pts 7, tenth Newry City P 9 Pts 6, eleventh Dungannon Swifts P 9 pts 3 and still bottom Portadown P 9 Pts 1

Assuming the top 3 win all their games in hand (I don't know if that's even possible, as I'm not sure who has to play who), that would leave the Crues and the Bannsiders with a bit of a leeway to make up.

Entertaining match from Windsor Park last night - yellow cards galore, two of which in the first half reduced Linfield to 10 men, both sides hit the woodwork, and Glentoran made their extra man count in the second half, running out 3-0 winners, Linfield's first home league defeat since the last game of season 2020/21, apparently.

I thought Chris Johns was at fault for the second goal, but the commentators passed no remarks about it.

Meanwhile, Larne destroyed Cliftonville, who also finished with 10 men, 4-0 at Inver to stay top with the Glens second.

Home to Glenavon today, looking for more entertainment than last week. We need to be winning these game comprehensively against lower placed teams, but Glenavon done us a few times last season. It's my last match maybe until Christmas.  I'm looking for a good send off. From next week I'll be at Firhill following my wee team.

Woeful first half followed by a cracking second. It's not like Stephen to make such early subs, but what a difference. Chicken can still change a match. Won headers in both boxes. Lecky was great. (that's twice I've said that)

Nine man Coleraine lose in the last minute at Ballymena. Nearly crashed the car as I listened to that on the radio driving home. Bad words were uttered. That's Coleraine out of the title race at this early stage, too many teams with games in hand to make up ground on.

Carrick get back on track with a 3-0 win over Dungannon Swifts, Newry win 3-1 at Shamrock Park, and as already reported above Crusaders beat Glenavon 3-2 in a ding dong second half at Seaview.

Looks like Swifts and the Ports are in bother, 6 and 8 points adrift of Newry City and Glenavon.

Larne still top, a point ahead of Glentoran who are two ahead of Crusaders.

Apologies for the lack of updates in the Championship @Jacksgranda. Struggling with reoccurring Carpal Tunnel Syndrome at the moment, which makes it very difficult and painful to type very much. Still enjoying a fascinating start to the season in both senior divisions though, hopefully contributing on the thread again soon.🤞

The league table is starting to take shape, even at this early stage of the season.

Larne win at Windsor, 4-2, serious contenders this season. Glens get by Newry, 1-0, Cliftonville win 4-2 at the Showgrounds, that's the Bannsiders out of it, Crues crush the Ports 4-0 as per @hatchetman, and Glenavon beat Carrick in another 4-2.

Big game on Friday, Larne v Glentoran.

Top Larne P 10 pts 26, second Glentoran P 9 Pts 25, third Crusaders P 11 Pts 23, fourth Cliftonville P 10 Pts 22, then a 6 point gap, fifth on goal difference Coleraine P 11 Pts 16, sixth Linfield P 10 Pts 16

Bottom half: seventh on 16 points also, Carrick P 11 Pts 16, 4 points to eighth Glenavon P 11 Pts 12, ninth Ballymena P 10 Pts 11, tenth Newry City P 11 Pts 9, 5 points to eleventh Dungannon P 11 Pts 4 and bottom Portadown P 11 Pts 1

Top of the table clash at The Oval, and we're stuck with Glenavon v Ballymena...

I know it's got to be shared about but come on, get real.

Hasn't been too bad, tbf. Glenavon must be kicking themselves going in a goal down, they were all over Ballymena who scored with practically their first chance, A bit more even after the goal, but Glenavon still on top.

I knew this post would come back to bite me on the bum - thoroughly entertaining clash ended 3-2 to the Lurgan Blues. Both sides would need to tighten up their defending of corners, first 4 goals all came from corner kicks, Glenavon got their winner from the spot, but Ballymena should have got an equaliser also from a penalty but the Glenavon keeper pulled off a great save.

Having said all that, the match from The Oval would have been worth seeing, too, 4-0 to the Glens.
