Game died a death after the 5th which is to be expected. As bad as Hamilton were, we were excellent, brilliant response from last week.

It mostly died a death because the referee started giving sympathy foul after sympathy foul. It's no exaggeration or wind-up to state that Hamilton today are the worst gang I've seen us play at this level. Only the likes of Forfar in the 9-1 game in 2007 seem on a comparable level. I really don't understand why Rankin has tried to build a team of big hammer-throwers, when their academy has always specialised in producing technically decent midfielders.Β

For us it has been the best imaginable response this week to the very disappointing display at Firhill last Saturday. We're not a well-polished outfit yet but if we can keep getting a regular haul of points between now until January, then we might be able to strengthen and make a more serious push towards the play-offs.Β

Am I right in saying that was Morton's first win against us at Cappielow this century? Maybe you beat us in 2003/04, THAT season!Β

That midfield? One decent player, one headless chicken ( who was awful last week but can't be dropped because we've no one else), and one quite talented player but who has no pace and no confidence. Adding Mimnaugh and benching Tiehi or One would likely have had little effect. There are players in the lower leagues who would walk into that team but we seem to have no scouting network. A shambles from top to bottom. And Ronnie wants us to be a hipster club. More chance of being a cult club like Fort William!

WhatΒ a result and what a difference a week makes, you have to credit the resilience to come back from last Saturday like this.

Two in two for Kabia and four in three for Muirhead - the difference in the team as an attacking force with Muirhead through the middle rather than out wide is silly. That first choice XI is probably set for a while now. Good to see players who had a slow start or hadn't had a pre-season really coming up toΒ speed.Β Crawford was again terrific while Grimshaw has found his legs now, and O'Connor hasΒ looked a lot more settled in the last couple of games.

Pretty sure that we didn't, at least one draw (2-2?) and probably a defeat just as the wheels were starting to off.Β

A midweek win at NDP and then the shambolic 6-0 defeat in the final few weeks.Β

First win against you at Cappielow since a 3-0 win in February 1999, my main memory of which was queuing behind the goal during the game for a ticket for the Scottish Cup quarter final against Celtic a few weeks later.

If we were to look at it the way Dunfermline fans look at their usual routine hounding from us, we’d be labelling you as our bogey team, but in reality you have of course just been better than is over that period.

Highlights of the last win;

There's a team that look doomed. Nothing about them.Β

My exact thoughts about Morton this time last week. Fully expect Hamilton to get something against us next week because that’s how it works in this league.

That was outrages :)Β  Scored 5 and could/should have been more. Can't remember our keeper making a single save in the whole match.Β

Lewis Strapp made more saves than the keeper.Β

Anyway, that was great, especially after the endless string of dire results we’ve had to endure in the last 20 years. Biggest win over them since the 1960s, even surpassing the night in 1977 when Mark McGhee scored all four in a 4-1 win. Comfortably the poorest Accies side I’ve seen in a long time.Β
We were excellent today - the passing and the movement for the 3rd goal was lovely. Quality trolling celebrations after the 4th and 5th goals.
Kabia didn’t look happy at being subbed, but clearly Imrie reckoned that if Robbie could outrun that defence then Jai could do likewise.
Cameron Blues blatantly controlled the ball with his hand in front of the Cowshed in the 1st half, but the officials managed to miss it.

All of a sudden this league has become wide open with 3 teams on 17pts ... ourselves and Dundee only 3pts adrift on 14pts in 5th and 6th positions.

Still 3/4 of this season to play so I think there are going to be plenty ups and downs .

Fingers crossed we dont see too many downs.

Nope, your thoughts about last week were just wrong. Not least because Sir Douglas Imrie is a real football manager as opposed to the fraud that is 'John Rankin'.Β

Morton are on 14 points now, which would be my over/under bet for Hamilton's points tally by New Year.Β

NB: That Imrie's post-match interview is still furious about our performance last Saturday underlines the expectations currently being set at the club. It's by no means a highly skillful squad, but so long as they are back sweating embryos for the cause again then we will be good this season.Β

I would like to apologise for calling John Rankin "a football terrorist."

That was far too complimentary a description.Β

When I see a manager doing performative things like subbing guys after half an hour, or sending his team out early for the second half into the cold, it only comes across as someone without ideas or who wants to distance himself from any responsibility for the performance.

For our part, really enjoyable and unexpected.

All credit to Imrie for rejuvenating the team this week, as he’s now down a few times in his time with us.

Some very good performances throughout the team and, although I’m still not taken with Kabia, at least he’s now scoring goals while otherwise frustrating.

Well got up and checked BBC Sport this morning great to find it was not a dream and all considered a good week for the Ton.

Taking last week as clearly defining what happens when you do not apply yourself and make up for skill deficiencies with effort.Β

Have been impressed with Baird, Srapp and Muirhead. Grimshaw is proving a good acquisition and plus Mark's also for McGratran.

Kabia for me needed to be dumped as he has not delivered up until Tuesday.

Let's hope that knee goal on Tuesday was what he needed to give him confidence and a great finish yesterday. That good I thought he was offside. Dougie had to take him off as his head was buzzing and lucky to survive that full stud showing high tackle.

A final mention to the ref you will be welcome back seemed to give Ton a fair showing.

Last 2 performances he has looked like a different player in terms of attitude and effort.Β  It's clear that there's ability there. Dougie spoke about confidence players in his post match interview and I think he's spot on with both kabia and Muirhead.

Happy days.

Imrie re-affirming that he's got what it takes over the past week... and stumbling with a bit of good fortune on what looks like our best shape (Quitongo's suspension forcing him to go with Muirhead through the middle and tinker with what he expects of the 'wide' players). We maybe only need the one striker in January now...

Pleased that McGrattan is getting a shout; not sure how far it will take him, but he definitely has something about him. And both he and Kabia will need to keep performing or they know Quitongo will take their place.

Word also for Robbie Crawford, who looks more and more like 'exactly what we need' every time he plays.

As for Hamilton, my impression was that a lot of their better players started on the bench: am I imagining that? And, if it is accurate, is it down to injuries or the manager (or both)?

Would want a better sense of how that's working before writing them off altogether.
