Aberdeen v Livi

Recommended Posts

Second half Aberdeen have protected their lead perfectly. Really aggressive midfield press that we've been completely unable to play through. So we've had to just knock it high and long at Nouble, to zero effect.

Nouble's shirt is gonna be 4 sizes too big for him...then to award Aberdeen the freekick and book Shinnie just shows how inept the refereeing is again

He’s been shite today. Lazy and uninterested at times

Important three points against a good team, even if the game itself was far from vintage. Nice finish from Miovski. Pollock, MacDonald and Shinnie were all very good. We showed some gamesmanship and general knowhow in the second half, too, which has sometimes been lacking.

Our home form remains good. We now have the best possible chance to actually win an away game next weekend against the league's crisis club. What could go wrong?

Important three points that one.

I’m sure there will be people moaning that we didn’t play like Brazil 1970 but given how this season has gone , accumulating as many points by whatever means possible is what counts at this stage.

Very pleased with that. Not vintage but good shape, good structure. Aggression at the right times and a real desire to get over the line. Feel vindicated that this team isn’t as bad as has been made out. Shinnie was great in that 2nd half.

Moment of the match undoubtedly andrew shinnie getting booked for accusing his brother of diving (he did) and then Nicky devlin acting hard when what really happened is he was just too slow to get to the ball.

The tactics first half were wrong, the team was set up too attack-heavy so he was being burdened with too much defensive work. Second half the shape suited him better but Aberdeen's hard pressing dominated us. He still had an effort cleared off the line and was our most dangerous attacker.

My favourite moment was when Nouble pulled out of the tackle before Shinnie was near, Shinnie dived anyway, somehow the freekick was given (and then his brother was booked for dissent). Then, 2 minutes later, Devlin catches Shinnie quite high on the shins, and then for some reason Shinnie spends the next 30 seconds shouting like a hard man as if he hadn't deserved his shit for diving.

And after all that, I'd probably still give him man of the match. Aberdeen's pressing was just better than ours. We deserved nothing from that.
