TxRover
5 minutes ago, Raith Against The Machine said: To a fair extent, I think it's a symptom of having such a small squad. We've got five or six players who play every single minute they're available for. Both Vaughan and Lang have come back from serious injuries and had to hit the ground running, with absolutely no respite. They've both ended up with hamstring injuries. So it's not that it's a recurrence of their original injuries, which have been rehabbed properly, but it does look like there needs to be more general recovery for players who didn't get a full pre-season. It also sounds like Ethan Ross and Jamie Gullan have been trying to play on with the same injuries that ultimately require surgery. Nobody gets a chance to sit out for a couple of weeks to let any niggles settle. Unless boys can't run, they're playing, and it's self-defeating. It also plays to that theory to hear RaithTV suggest Lang is certainly out for Dundee, hammy concerns with as much as he’s played recently. Hopefully Vaughan doesn’t pull up next with a tight hammy! I suspect that IM will amend his small squad philosophy after this season, this league certainly seems to call for a somewhat larger squad than the 20-22 we’ve run with (not counting loaned out players). Probably more of a 24-26 players available week over week squad size is right, with a couple out on loan.

It's been over a couple of different squads and managers now. It’ll be interesting to see if it happens again next season. At the start of the season when Spencer was out, Murray made a comment about his injury being something that should have been dealt with last season but for whatever reason it wasn’t. Did seem to be a slight dig at McGlynns approach to injuries. And there does seem to be a lot of our players getting things dealt with correctly this season, even if it means they’re out for an extended period of time.

I think it’s less a philosophy and more he has no choice as he has barely any budget thanks to McGlynn being allowed to spunk it up the wall last season. To be fair, probably best to stay away given the stadium will be absolutely stinking on a warm day like this

Fair play if you think 2 of Arbroath, Hamilton and Cove are going to overhaul a double figure points gap.

TheScarf
Raith aren’t getting relegated. There’s a 0% chance of 2 of the 3 below them bettering their results until the end of the season. Edited April 8, 2023 by TheScarf

We won’t be caught by Cove and unlikely that the other two can catch us either unless we implode and they find consistency but would rather make absolutely sure of our Championship place as soon as possible. If nothing else then it helps the club plan.

Unlikely, but would rather it was a guaranteed 0% chance sooner rather than later.

Cove and Hamilton both have to play Arbroath so there isn’t an possible scenario where 2 of those 3 can get more points than what you have just now. As the table currently stands. Thats also after a very quick look so it may be wrong. ETA - not that it remotely matters. Raith aren’t going to be in the bottom two. 100% guaranteed. Why do you think your team will implode?
