Actually been up that farm he landed in when I was reading up on the rumour he was a doppelgänger, looks like to be fake, same as the story that hitlers aunt lived in shawlands.

Big man's birthday today actually.

Happy birthday if you're reading this Adi.

An old boy that drank in my local claimed to have been one of his guards when he got huckled.

Did you have any stories about the incident ? I saw that they were selling abit of the plane maybe about 5/10 years ago that a farm hand had allegedly hidden ,it’s not for from the prehistoric burial cairn which is also worth a look if anyone is into that sort of thing.

There was nothing wrong with that plane when he left.

One of my grandpas claimed to have been working the radar that tracked his flight.

In that case it's a miracle he didn't crash through the control tower.

Both grandfathers were quite clumsy. He dropped a gravestone on someone from a great height and the other kept getting shot in world wars.

Bringing down the tone of the thread somewhat I know but the thread title does mention "notorious" (albeit I've never heard of a "blow-in" before)...

One of Jamie Bulger's killers spent a spell in Ayrshire under an assumed name. Someone I know worked with him indirectly for a charity under contract to the Home Office or Prison Service or something when in Stevenston but he didn't stay long thankfully.

We lived for a couple of years in a small village in the Glens of Antrim where we were introduced to that term. It refers to folk from outwith those communities who appear alien and exotic to the locals.  The Pie & Bovril exemplar of the "blow-in" would be @Jacksgranda, though he may have managed to assimilate over the decades.

It's the family of the bloke that invented Tetrapak, it made billions, but can't remember the name of family.

Fred Olsen of the cruise company has a big chunk of Dumfries & Galloway, I know this as I was banging the gamekeepers wife for a bit, but that another story for another day.

A game bird?

I'm only here 50 years in August, so I doubt it...
