Highest-ranked or neutral are both permissible:East of Scotland League Centenary Cup ... Rule 4 (i) In the Semi-Final ties the 2022-23 Premier Division champion club shall play at home to the 2022-23 Third Division champion club, and the 2022-23 First Division champion club shall play at home to the 2022-23 Second Division champion club. ... Rule 9 (i) The Final Tie will be played on a ground selected by the Board. This may be the venue of whichever Club played in the higher division in 2022-23, or a neutral venue.

HibeeJibee
Centenary action continues exactly 100yrs after the league was constituted. Tomorrow night looks set for a fantastic duel. Both champions have entered the next levels strongly with 9pts from their opening games and in Whitburn's case still 100% record. Saturday was Dunbar's first home defeat since March... Burnie hasn't lost on the road since February... they haven't met for many years... for Whitburn: local rivals await in Final... neither won a cup of any kind for over 20yrs. May well be among the biggest crowds of the evening across Scotland.

HibeeJibee
East of Scotland Centenary Cup Semi-FinalDunbar United 1-2 Whitburn (aet, FT 1-1) Enthralling action packed SF before several hundred. Dunbar had more possession and chances but outlandish equaliser forced ET as clinical Whitburn came from behind. What a Final in store.
Auld Heid
If memory serves me correct, Linlithgow and Whitburn have met before in a Centenary Cup Final? I believe the game was held at Tynecastle for East Region Juniors Centenary and Whitburn won 2-1

sfha
I think it would have been apt to have included the surviving original members taking part in a preliminary round.

They enjoyed an East of Scotland Centenary Challenge yesterday...East of Scotland Football Association | FacebookFounder members mark league's 100 years with new Centenary Challenge Celebrations for the East of Scotland League’s hundredth anniversary continued on Saturday, as both clubs which contested the inaugural league game met in a South Challenge Cup R1 tie at Home Park. Coldstream and Vale of Leithen are the only sides from the 1923-24 campaign still playing in the league – ‘Streamers prevailed that opening season and have remained members for the entire century, while Vale won the following year then 3 more times in 1970s and 1980s. Before kickoff both teams were led out on the pitch to the skirls of Pipe Major Guthrie of Coldstream Pipe Band, before lining-up for a ceremonial photograph and handshakes to mark the historic occasion. While the pair drew 1-1 at Victoria Park back in September 1923 to share the league’s first-ever points, there had to be a victor this time. Ultimately the Berwickshire hosts dispatched their Peeblesshire visitors 2-0 courtesy goals from Buster Briggs plus substitute Bailey Paterson, and will host Edinburgh United in R2. As well as progressing in the South Challenge Cup, this handed them opening success in a new East of Scotland Centenary Challenge, the fine new trophy for which will be disputed in a preseason friendly between both in future years. Coldstream won the return league game 7-4 in December 1923, but Vale of Leithen will be eager for a better result next time.
HibeeJibee
This weekend back in 1923 was EOS Qualifying Cup R1... intriguing to see some "long lost" clubs participating back then:Berwick Rangers 1-1 Coldstream Gala Fairydean 1-1 Warrender Leith Amateurs 3-0 Board of Agriculture Westfield 3-1 SelkirkThis seems to have been Board of Agriculture's only ever game in senior football. Warrender and Westfield both featured for a few seasons in mid-1920s the latter reappearing for a swansong in 1929-30. Leith Amateurs entered the EOS League after Christmas in 1923-24 when they took on Edinburgh Civil Service's record, and played on till the war (including 5 seasons in the rebel Edinburgh & District League)... reaching several cup finals - winning 2 - and qualifying for the Scottish Cup on 3 occasions, most famously losing only 2-0 in a 'derby' at Hibs in 1930. Selkirk folded in 2018.

HibeeJibee
This should be a great final: these local rivals have both carried on last season's good form, but haven't met competitively since 2012 - indeed have never met in senior football. With no other mens football of note in Scotland that day, no Scottish Premiership or EPL football that weekend (Scotland visit Cyprus on Friday night), and only Kazakhstan v Northern Ireland on TV that afternoon, hopefully a big crowd too. LongTimeLurker
Given Whitburn play in claret and amber watching them lose can be quite pleasing from an Accies fan perspective.
HibeeJibee
Century ago the East of Scotland League starting wasn't the biggest news story in football that week - it was whether or not to recognise the Irish Free State FA, plus a Royal Albert fan causing an abandonment after attacking the referee at Dumbarton Harp - but interestingly there was a Scottish Cup draw just like today... some familiar names, some long gone:Arthurlie v Beith Berwick Rangers/Leith Amateurs v Coldstream Blairgowrie Athletic v Arbroath Athletic Breadalbane v St Andrews University Buckie Thistle v Aberdeen University Creetown/St Cuthbert Wanderers v Stranraer Dumbarton Harp/Royal Albert v Glasgow University Inverness Thistle v Inverness Citadel Leith Athletic v Peebles Rovers Moorpark v Helensburgh Nithsdale Wanderers v Queen of the South Tarff Rovers v Thornhill byes: Brechin City, Dunkeld & Birnam, Dykehead, Forres Mechanics, Fraserburgh, Gala Fairydean, Galston, Inverness Caledonian, Mid Annandale, Newton Stewart
