Why would he be punted after relatively narrowly losing games we were probably expected to lose when he wasn't punted for losing games we had far better chances of winning in an actual tournament just a few months ago?

I don't think there's any chance of him being pushed after the NL, and probably not much chance of him jumping either. He'll go once we come close-but-not-that-close to qualifying for the World Cup.

Sad but true. As said, no way will they get rid of him this year.

We are stuck with him and fat useless Hanley till the time comes.

It's genuinely shocking that people aren't getting this. f**k me.

It's not a difficult concept:

1. We're currently in the top group of the Nations League, playing teams that are way better than us. Meaning our chances of having wins has been significantly narrowed.

2. The players will take that invaluable experience going forward, particularly the youngsters.

3. Because of the aforementioned experience of playing against top teams and elite players, our players will be better prepared to face the World Cup qualifications.

That's really the most simple way I can put it without cracking out the crayons and puppets.

It's a big picture scenario:

Short term suffering for long term gains.

After the World Cup Steve Clarke will leave and we'll be lumbered with someone like Derek McInness or Stuart Baxter.

The grass isn't always greener. Look at our pals down south for proof. Their fans ran their manager out, now they look a shambles and no one wants to manager them because their fans are delusional.

I wouldn't say that our fans are delusional. Some are just a wee bit dumb.

If the general Scotland fan fails to see the process (and progres that's clearly happening under Steve Clarke, their one brain cell is permanently out to lunch.

I cannot wait to see the reaction in this place when Scotland qualify for the World Cup. There'll be so many 180s that hospitals all over Scotland will be inundated with cases of whiplash.

1 - We were losing well before this nations league campaign and been awful in the last year

2 - Aye just look at Celtic at how great they are playing in the champions league these days after playing against the best players in the world. Oh wait...

3 - Will we be better prepared or will we be absolutely shiteing it because we are so low on confidence? Lose or draw easy games in the first few fixtures and the pressure will be too much and Clarke will be out a job

4 - How are England a shambles right now? Their new man is trying out players in new positions to fit all their brilliant talent in to ge them ready for the WCQ.

5 - You are the village idiot on this forum so it's laughable you are making remarks about some Scotland supporters being dumb or suggesting people on here 'aren't getting it'.

6 - Clarke may turn it around and I am sure everyone on here hope he does but it doesn't take away the fact that he has shat the bed at two euros and has made a lot of mistakes from his time as Scotland manager. A different manager after the last euros could of had us in a better position right now for all we know.

They'll get away with it, as they always do, but if they contrive to not get promoted, that should be treated as a shambles. Particularly if it ends up getting them a much more difficult draw than it needed to be for those qualifiers. Treating the Nations League as a piss take is an arrogance that you can just about get away with as long as you're comfy in the top league.

Pretty much because anytime we come on to the big stage he absolutely shits his pants.

We have reached the point not where it is obvious there will be no change until after the next WC qualifiers or WC. TBF to Clarke performances have improved since the Euro's but results certainly haven't.

Time to move on.

Yes the Euros were poor and extremely disappointing, but going into League A did we really expect to be coming away with a run of victories?

SC used what he had avaliable with the injuries well tonight, against a side who should be beating Scotland fairly comfortably.

We actually have a decent chance to go and get another couple of positive results against Croatia and Poland now. 'If' that happens, there is a case for SC getting the WC Qualifiers, when, hopefully with a full squad to pick from and a reasonable draw, he is capable of getting us to another Tournament.

To bring in the likes of Moyes at this stage wouldn't make a difference to results, and Clarke is now starting to use the likes of Doak and Gauld. He is still hampered by the lack of quality upfront as any manager would be.

I find it wild that theres thousands of professional football managers in the world.

Yet the only guy who can apparently manage us is the guy who's just figured out after 5 years that not attempting to actually compete in matches is not likely to get positive results.
