Rutherglen Glencairn 2023-24

Recommended Posts

A new thread to mark the start of a new era with our first change of manager for 13 years.

Here's hoping Joe Pryce is successful and is in the hotseat for as long as Willie Harvey was. We've only had 5 different management teams in the past 28 years, that's quite different from a lot of clubs at our level. (Willie Harvey - 13 years, Scott Smith / Willie Patterson - 5 years, Ross Anderson - 5 years, John Conlin - 5 years,)

Signing news to follow.

Glencairn's new manager Joe Pryce has confirmed the first new additions to the playing squad with the promotion of six players from the club's league-winning Under 21s to the first team.

Liam Coyle (defender), Ronan Shiels (defender), Leon Boomer (defender/midfielder), Marc Risi (midfielder), Dylan Collins (attacking midfielder) and Bradley Wilkie (striker) will all join up with the squad for pre-season training in a couple of weeks.

"It's something we've always done here at Glencairn," said Pryce. "I have been honoured to be promoted from within this week, and as long as I've been here we've brought the 21s into the first team each year.

"Five of our ten outfield starting players in the Scottish Junior Cup Final came directly to us from the Under 21s, and we had another former Glens 21s player on the bench as well, so it's a testament to our 21s management that every year they're producing a conveyor belt of players for us, and we always give them the chance to step up when we can.

"The players we've brought in this year were captains, Player of the Year award winners and top goal scorers etc, so we hope that they all make as big an impact as they step up to first team level."

Good luck, really good that Willie is still involved at the club. Came across really well in the recent tv footage and will offer Joe a lot of support.

Has Harry Mitchell signed for anyone? Heard we wanted him a few seasons ago

Mon the papers

We haven't seen any confirmation of Harry signing anywhere, although there are rumours of a club. I won't name them.
