Scotland v England 150th year anniversary match

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately our big players, gilmour, mctominay, Robertson didn't turn up at all. Adams and dykes left very isolated. Thought Callum McGregor slowed everything down to a snails pace. England are a good side but we should he competed more.

Anyway this is our best team in 30 odd years, so roll on Germany

Well that was a wake up call for the uber optimists amongst us. Aa number of our players shown up for what they are which is good, competent international footballers - nothing more.

Out played, out thought, out fought by a fitter more athletic and skilful team.

But at least we won the booing so that'll teach them.

It’s absolutely no surprise to me that England are producing a significant number of high quality footballers.

There have been huge investments in the last 20 years in grass roots football and their club academies.

Our facilities in contrast are a million miles away from the same standards. Even the facilities at Celtic and Rangers would likely not be near the levels of most premier league clubs down south.

The gap in quality will only get wider.

The TV money and advertising revenue that filters through the English game is off the scale.

Add to the fact that they have a population 10 times our nation it’s really no surprise we struggle to compete on a regular basis.

Not sure why there is shock about the national anthems being booed. This happens every Scotland v England game, both anthems are booed whether it's in Hampden or Wembley, and will keep on happening at all these fixtures.

The game itself needed Scotland playing at 100% across the pitch but there were a couple of players that, it felt like, played at a "friendly" pace. A couple of tackles being shirked and concentration not fully there. Disappointing but can't let it get in the way of a successful qualifying campaign.

Agree with what has been previously said about Bellingham though, looked head and shoulders above the rest on the pitch.

This bit goes unnoticed, I remembered it from the 2017 game at Hampden as well. Apart from Trippier and maybe Foden their starting 11 all massive, their centre halves are stupidly sized, Dykes looked wee compared to Dunk. So without sounding too much like Gordon Strachan we're on the back foot physically as well.

We probably did quite well not to concede from a set piece.

Whereas vs Spain we were able to ruffle them a bit with physicality, last night they were just bouncing off challenges, so many occasions where Rice or Bellingham got away or held off 2 or 3 players.

He's a p***k, bootlicking, servile w**k. Some good commentary doesn't change that. Almost certainly a huge Tory too.

I read that he and the other Rangers players in the squad refused to play for Scotland on the day of Diana’s funeral, which almost cost us points as the SFA had to scramble to get UEFA to agree to a last minute postponement.

Scandalous that he doesn’t get slaughtered for that.

Mask slipping on the bigot McCoist.  No mention of the booing during the minute silence (that had to be cut short) from England fans towards an apparent idol of his? England fans regualrly boo our anthem and others, it doesn't in the least bit bother me, but we all know the reason it bothers him.  Some effort for him to turn it political and alienate himself from the support now.

Mccoist just represents the majority of the people of Scotland. You need to learn to respect democracy.

The most noise, by far, during the minutes silence came from Scotland fans booing the booing England fans.

Yeah I don't get the whole booing them making a noise, but then you heard the constant England chants.  It's tit for tat point scoring they boo'd so we disrupted.

Don't forget his thinly veiled nonsense about asking who the guys on that panel were when he was Sevco manager.
