Livingston are a new club and people just aren't born with the connection to that club that they are to Killie, Motherwell or any other Club that has been kicking about for nearly a century and a half. Someone further up said that St Johnstones crowds are poor in comparison to other one club towns such as Motherwell and Kilmarnock but the difference with Perth is that it really is a town surrounded by countryside and the odd village rather than huge conurbations like Lanarkshire and Ayrshire. Motherwells support is ridiculous given how close it is to Glasgow and how small its population is, but it can't be denied that the support is swelled by folk from neighbouring towns. This however, doesn't explain the pitiful historical support of Hamilton just across the Clyde. Also explains Livi's problem, all the surrounding towns have large erse cheek supports, Broxburn, Armadale, Bathgate, Blackburn, Whitburn, Harthill, Fauldhouse etc.

You didn't start up 28 years ago in Kilmarnock though, trying to attract a support with established teams like Hearts, Hibs, Rangers & Celtic all having large fanbases in the area. *edit to add, just looked up the population or Ayrshire and West Lothian, seems Ayrshire is double the size too. I'll give you the 28 year figure but currently.... Livi population is around 56.840 Killie Population is around 47,040 Its also exactly the same distance from Killie to Ibrox as it is from Livi to Easter Road, 18 miles. You should be attracting a lot more than you currently do considering your an established top flight team throu the likes of community engagement within primary schools or having supporters clubs within secondary schools, like we do, ie future fans. Yeah we're quite central to having 4 of the bigger clubs in Scotland East and West of us. Very little of that Livingston population support Livi, you even see hundreds of local Hibs fans walking down on games when we play them. In retrospect our 28 year history is prob more relevant to us having a smaller support than more established clubs like Killie, who have similar problems to us being surrounded by old/new firm fans. My mates son is a 1st generation livi fan, another mate is now taking his grand daughter to our games, unfortunately his son switched to supporting Hearts and he used to take him to Livi games too. But we're just starting to have 2nd generation Livi fans coming through, it'll take a bit more time to try and build up a decent support.
