Noticed Christie has been playing in a double pivot for Bournemouth and doing pretty well. Got to imagine there's a good chance he's preferred to McTominay for Cyprus with McTominay's lack of game time. McT a good option from the bench

Not playing McTominay would be pretty wild for me.

He didn't start the last Cyprus game and got a double.

Not that he's necessarily a bad option off the bench, but with him being our best player in qualifiers so far, I can't see him being dropped.

The "lack of game time" argument doesn't work for me given that a number of our players had been dropped by their clubs when we beat Spain in March. If anything the likes of Tierney and McTominay were fresh and well rested as a result.

I think it'll be 10 of the 11 that started against Georgia. The one change will be Adams in for the injured Dykes.

If we're dropping McTominay from the starting side then surely it's Gilmour that has to go in?

He's streets ahead of Christie (who would be better suited to the McGinn role, but it's McGinn he's up against...) and slots into that midfield role a lot better.

His performances for Brighton have been stellar so far and it would be madness if he didn't start, at least in Cyprus, imo.

Most goals ≠ best player

Not indispensable and I like Christie as a forward presser in away games

I’m not sure anyone said McTominay should play only because he has scored basically all of our goals recently?

I mean it’s a pretty big fucking reason, but not the only reason.

I think we could probably play McTominay next to Gilmour in this one - incredibly harsh on McGregor but it’s going to be the case for someone. I’m not sure it suits McTominay being as high up against a side sitting deep so he’ll potentially be better driving from deep and looking to arrive late in the box again.

Gilmour instead of Christie

Robertson , Gilmour ,  McGregor , McTominay , Hickey

On an unrelated note, but as per the Tweet, how many players with these utterly absurd transfer fees have actually gone onto do anything that remotely justifies it?

The Price of Football podcast made a very good point re Brighton this week - a team well run on the pitch, is usually well run off it (referring to a senior police commander on how well organised their security arrangement are).

Manchester United are the complete opposite.  The only reason there isn't more attention on their absurd transfer policy is that Chelsea are laughably even worse.

At least Billy got out.  Hopefully Scott can do so as well soon.

I wouldn’t be overly surprised if we switched to a back 4 with Armstrong, McTominay and McGinn in a 3 between McGregor/Gilmour and the striker.

We (can) play a back four when either Robby or Tierney are unavailable.

Otherwise it’s as per always.

McGregor is a far more important player for us than McTominay

If McTominay was getting his game for Man U I wouldn't really be considering not playing him but it is a factor

This. Same team as Georgia with Adams and Christie in for Dykes and McTominay.
