Jacky1990
Arrogance. Celtic in particular continue to try and play the way they do domestically and get royally pumped most the time.

Sure, they can't compete with the elite sides financially but they are a relatively wealthy club who should do far better than they do. The main problem is the lack of good home-grown talent. Look at the great players that Scotland produced in the past and how thin the pool of home-grown is now.

But with a fairer distribution of sponsorship money, other clubs might be able to perform better than they do at present.

I'm surprised Cetic's B team hasn't started producing the conveyor belt of Scottish talent we were promised...
General dissaray
We play teams halfway into there season and aren't up to speed this is a problem especially for the smaller sides allthough it looks like even in the diddy cup we might see Hearts or Aberdeen eventually get out the group maybe next year if Aberdeen pull there fingers out and actually reach it

"Smaller sides" in the last few seasons have beaten the likes of Hacken, Breidalbik, Viking Stavangar and Rosenborg in qualifying rounds... Aberdeen conversely failed to win either group game against Helsinki despite their domestic campaign having ended. To be precise over the last 6 seasons non-OF clubs have won 8 out of 11 qualifying round ties against clubs from spring-autumn leagues. Aberdeen have beaten ROPS, Chikhura, Runavik, Viking Stavangar, Hacken, Breidalbik have lost to Hacken Hearts have beaten Rosenborg Hibs have beaten Runavik have lost to Molde Motherwell have lost to Sligo

MarkoP
Simple answer is ball technique We don’t learn enough of that as kids We've professional players who can’t trap a ball! Id add to that having a long term national style of play would help greatly A culture of how we want to play the game so basic things become second nature
