Livingston v Dundee - 28/10/23

Recommended Posts

What the f**k has happened to Devlin? Awful with the ball at his feet, so shaky last week and responsible for 2 goals today. Zero leadership at the back, an absolute shambles.

100% red card as well. Montano has a lot to answer for.

Great and deserved result. Probs be different if we’d lost but not going to argue with the VAR decision. That red card! Is he normally a malicious cunto? He could be in further trouble yet, a blatant, deliberate, off the ball stamp.
Carson and Shaughnessy are fookin immense. Thought Sylla was pretty effective too.
Was worried the Doc would make changes but Bakayoko’s arrival changed the game.

Oh dear, I think the most disappointing thing is that goals were second contacts from set pieces as opposed to open play. The extra man shouldn’t really matter there. (Was Montaño marking Shaugnessy in first half?)

I didn’t see anything at the time of the sending off so quite intrigued to see what happened. From comments above seems like Montaño has stamped out? That’s disappointing because I thought he and we were looking decent (and MacKay could have scored, for example). I don’t think being contacted or stood on if you are on the deck is a surprise or violent.

edit: most disappointing thing was we let down the folks who came along for first time today!

What a stupid stupid boy.

Oh dear, that looks deliberate! Felt we could’ve scored before that but not at all after so probably cost us a point minimum. Didn’t think there was much in it 11 vs 11 and he was arguably our best performer.

There are 2 points between half a dozen teams so league position nothing to be concerned and irrelevant (unless 32 games played) id say.

We had our good results to begin the season using the 3-4-2-1 with natural full backs as the wing backs, Penrice and Brandon, then the two attacking mids were a creator - Nouble - alongside a more defensive presser - Pittman or Sangare. Maybe because we picked up some points and moved into mid-table, Martindale thought he could start picking more attacking players. Mackay - a winger - over Brandon at wing back and a second creator alongside Nouble, Bradley today, instead of the presser. The balance has been lost. The framework around Nouble has gone. The platform that solid structure was providing him has been taken away.

Sean Kelly, while he deserves credit for his recent penalties, should be back up to Shinnie not the other way around. Guthrie should not be featuring as much as he is. He can do a job but he's too often being put on ahead of better players.

Another two goals conceded today from high balls into our box. That adds to the two goals conceded last week from high balls into our box. Obileye normally clears 90% of those for us so he's been such a crucial absence for us these last two matches. Even the low cross Killie scored their opener from last week may've been cut out by Obileye. We don't have another commanding centre back who can replace him like for like.

That first half was really ill-suited to Bradley who's at his best in a more open game where we're attacking into space on the counter.

Unless he's been injured, Stephen Kelly needs played far more often especially in home matches.
