Forfar Athletic Vs Stranraer

Recommended Posts

Can’t fault the work rate today, some great football played but as Scottish Loon says, we should have been out of site at halftime.

If we didn’t have bad luck we have any luck at all 🙈

I’m baffled as to why the Stranraer player only got a yellow for that horrific challenge on Nditi.

If only Forfar had a clinical striker like Matty Aitken 😬

The Loons played really well for 45 minutes, then resorted to hoofing and hoping. Stranraer were poor but got a lucky deflection and scored with their only shot!

We were never going to score again when we brought on Mutale & Ferguson. Who despite being tall look like they'll never win a header.

Was following BBC text/stats.

Stranraer 60% possession, 4 shots, 1 on target.

Forfar 40% , 16, 5

Anyone at the game verify this reflects how it played out?  Strange tactics for Forfar at home, allowing that much possession to an opponent obviously struggling to create chances.

Forfar with the best defense outside top 3 but least goals scored outside the bottom two.

I haven’t seen much of Forfar beyond highlights this season but is conceding so much possession and counter-attacking how they/you usually play?

You really couldn't tell Stranraer had that much possession tbh they barely got near the box in open play.

We're definitely better on the counter attack and when we get it forward quickly down the channels but most of the time we fall into crowding ourselves out on the edge of the box because our wide players are always inexplicably told to stand in the middle of the pitch on our strikers toes.

Would help if skelly was ever where you'd like your no.9 to be.

he's been poor in recent weeks but thought he did almost everything but score today, his main problem seems to be timing his jumps for headers.

Disagree. He got his chance, missed. He's not good enough. He's always asking for the ball on the edge of the box, constantly offside. Can't fault the effort but he just isn't of the required standard we need.

What wide players? That was a diamond today wasn't it? Thats him just about tried every formation and every line up. Why on earth do we need someone sitting infront of the back four in a game like that?

Still no league wins at home, in this league? 😂

Thought we were better today . Just lack of a forward is killing us.

Not just that -- no vision or creativity in midfield and no decent options to play out wide without Thomson. Middle to front we have the most beige squad I've seen.

Yeah It was pretty much a diamond today but the fact no matter what formation we play the midfielders aren't given any freedom to move out wide on the odd occasion is constantly our biggest problem when we have possession and it's Infuriating.
