RandomGuy.
Yeah Morton are rotten, really. That number 11 (Reynolds?) was outstandingly poor. Seems one of those players signed off their highlight reel when the reality is 90% of their game is running the ball out of play and being half arsed. Hard to know where we stand really because of how poor Morton were, but it's just nice to have a comfortable win at home tbh. Qualification now well within this squads grasp and that's the first box ticked this season for Levein.

Although you'd expect the strikers to do better. Kirk, in particular, should’ve done better. You’re right though - three good saves. That was about it.

Did he touch Adamas onto the post? Never seen it properly but we never got a corner.

PauloPerth
Big game at the Recs on Tuesday night. Winner moves clear in top spot. You’d expect East Fife to beat Brechin to move into second place. Either way looks like the group will be wide open going into the final Saturday.
LeodhasXD
Surprised by how little highlights there were in this game. Suppose that's because we were so comfortable. Didn't get out of second gear so hopefully still plenty left in the tank for Tuesday.

I don't think it was even a whole highlight reel as much as the solitary highlight clip of the goal against Ipswich. The logical conclusion about Morton's squad as it stands is it's obviously a League One bound mess, but at least however much it may be clutching at straws you have something to cling to with the likes of Lyall and Moffat: clearly not good enough as it stands, give the ball away for fun, positional sense absent, but there's a semblance of technical ability there that at a long shot could see them turn into competent Championship footballers down the line, and they're still young. Davies and Reynolds however are both 28 and have stepped up here from the Welsh Premier and National League South respectively. You want to give some leeway to players stepping up from part-time to full-time football at that age as it may take them more time to adjust physically than a younger player, but they really do have absolutely nothing about them at all. Obviously we're out already but Alloa is still an important game in a sense, to see how we measure up against a good League One team in a competitive game. There's little reason to believe the squad we've built is capable of competing with that calibre of side never mind Championship teams, but ahead of the league getting underway they need to start showing it if we're not going to be a sub 30 point embarrassment.

The Saintee
Rae continues in goal but Taylor Steven gets a chance from the start. Also...Connor Smith. Yay.
RandomGuy.
Massive night for McPake, Smith, and Steven. Suspect the latter two won't get another chance after this before being chucked out on loan. On paper it's quite refreshing as a line up though tbh, after spending the last few years watching plodding pensioners play 5-3-2.

RandomGuy.
Pretty even in Alloa for me, Alloa fans might justifiably think different. Our 3 behind Kimpioka haven't really got going and we're probably getting an example of why they're talked about as needing loan time. Think there's a chance we change that at half time. Alloa look as expected really. An incredibly well drilled side who know exactly how they want to play. A few dangerous counters have just lacked a final pass.

With us struggling for any rhythm, Dick’s Dynamos are in with a great chance of winning the group. Wouldn’t even be all that big a shock.

Waspie
Thought we deserved that. Made life difficult ourselves by conceding very cheap goals right after scoring (St Johnstone fans won't be happy with the goals they conceded either, albeit they were well taken) but we played well. The difference in a week since the East Fife game was stark. Hetherington anchoring the midfield so important and Scougall far more influential further up. Rankin had a tough gig at times but he never gave up and took his goals superbly. We need to add to our options in the attacking areas in the weeks ahead and who we get will shape our season but there is a good basis there. And nice to go into Saturday with a chance of progressing.
