Long weekends in the sun

Recommended Posts

Looking for the best options for preferably a beach based long weekend in the sun in July/August. The cheaper and closer the better. I'd go to the Canaries for any longer, but a near 5 hour flight for 3/4 nights seems a bit daft.

Looked at Ibiza already, but the prices are mental. I then thought Jersey, but not really guaranteed the weather there.

Any sensible suggestions would be appreciated.

Not France but Portugal is a relatively short flight and wasn't hugely expensive when I went last year. Algarve for something beach based, or Lisbon/Porto for a city break.

Faro/Alicante both with cheap flight options and most folk that fly into there move on to other resorts and don't stay there so hotels quite cheap, Barcelona also has a great beach

Sounds mad but Bournemouth/ Brighton are ok for weekends but quite pricey at weekends

Or left field Holland has some decent wee beach towns less than 30 mins from Amsterdam

I'd seriously consider Jersey or Brittany, you'd be really unlucky not to get good weather. Spain and Portugal could be 40 plus degrees if you were unlucky there.
