I see that the Scottish Labour student faction are trying to win back voters by abusing circa 20k public sector workers. Interesting strategy from them, will watch with interest as to how it plays out.

What's this about? Labour students are a very weird type. I remember them from my time at uni. You could tell they all saw themselves very much as careerl polticians in training. Such a shame that by the time they'd all graduated, the career prospects of aspiring Labour politicians in Scotland were worse than the Fine Arts graduates.

Quite a few I knew from my NUS days left the Labour Party and joined the SNP.

They're normally the entitled dauphin of some pushy local councilor who thought that getting their sprogs a higher education would give them a divine right to suck on the public teat in the 'real parliament'. Watching them stand and get shoed on a repeated basis at every single election never stop being delicious.

We have deleted a prior Tweet as it snowballed to itself becoming the story. Its original point was to show support for London Trans Pride attendees in the face of police shutting down the event.

We are sorry our clumsy use of language obscured the real issue and apologise to our trans comrades who have our support now and always.

That is painfully cringeworthy.

Terminally online stuff.

In 10 years time the Sun will bring it up again because whoever created it ends up as a Labour list MSP for Fife or something.

I'd say that conflating an ethnic group or religious orientation with a fucking job occupation is an utterly ridiculous comment, not sure where fair comes into it either way

True it's at the other end of the scale, but it's still prejudice.

It doesn’t matter. Listening to Theo Usherwood’s “analysis” on LBC at lunchtime, it became apparent that Starmer’s narrative is a prewritten media construct. According to Usherwood, Starmer is providing a measured alternative to Johnson, and holding the government up to scrutiny in a way Corbyn never did - much to the delight of those lovely backbench Tories who really just wanted sound opposition all along so they could be a better government (yes, this was his genuine analysis and interpretation). Starmer is, further, apparently reflecting the good, safe views of middle England, and that’s jolly good. No boat is being rocked.

The media has already decided that bad, useless Corbyn (who didn’t play their game) is mercifully gone and in his place is a wonderful, safe stuffed shirt, who will be rewarded with friendly press and a false image of his being a great politician and scrutiniser of the government.

Starmer is 100% a beige, media-friendly establishment lackey and he doesn’t have to actually do or say anything - and especially not anything that suggests he has opinions on anything remotely controversial or important. The media will report him doing as they expect him to do regardless - and that is to be a tame Tory enabler.

What an excellent post 🙂

They don't actually care about being in power. All they need to do is ensure the Labour Party is non threatening to capital and the directorships and high paying post parliamentary career will be their real reward.

The SNP in Scotland and the Tories across the UK are not being held to account as long as Labour are weak.

They need to sort themselves out quickly for the good of the country.

You're havering. Which country?

It's time to launch a real socialist party.

I agree but better wait until Independence then launch it.
