What is the point of labour ?

Labour does not need to oscillate between the so-called nutjob wing and the craven right-wing populist shitebagerry of Starmer.  There are millions of voters out there who would be amenable to policies which would ease their burden like clamping down on tax evasion, taxing excessive corporate profits,

Any politician who advocates those policies will be branded a nutjob and plenty of people who spend their lives moaning about the Tories and right wing policies will go along with it.

That's a counsel of despair.

It was a lot easier to apply the lazy Corbyn nutjob stereotype, underpinned by the manufactured anti-Semitism venom, when economic and social conditions were relatively a lot more benign than they are about to become in a post-Brexit, post-Covid, morally and financially exposed UK.  Starmer and the Labour Party can act on this by attacking the Tories record and demonstrating that he is willing to LEAD rather than cower in the hope that votes come Labour's way by default, because that ain't gonna happen.

There's an economic tsunami heading this way in the coming months and I'm not so sure that people will simply 'go along with it'.

But what's your suggestion ?

Good move imo. It's surely the only reason why the xenophobic tartan gonks haven't been voting Labour, the Red rose of England. Now that the badge has been fully Jockofied, I'd imagine they'll sweep into power in no time.

Slab seem to be running a fairly bizarre YouTube ad. It’s just Sarwar claiming “Scotland’s best days are ahead” and asking us to get in touch if we know any heroes. That’s it. What they’re planning on doing with these people is left a creepy mystery.

Variation on the "drag every puppy with a sore paw into Holyrood" strategy.

Labour held Birmingham Eddington with 55% of the vote on a turnout of 27%.

The answer to the thread title is that the point of Starmer is to destroy any prospect of a genuine choice in elections. His task is to turn Labour into the Democratic Party.

With a turnout that low, I don't think much can be read into this result.

What can clearly be read into it is that there is huge apathy about electoral politics despite the fact we are living through multiple crisises.

An increasing number of people (correctly) believe there is no point in voting.

Labour standing the former Orange Order Grand Wizard... desparate or what?

"Imperial"?  🤔 He does know that there's no Empire now, doesn't he?

Unless of course he was in some way the President of a system of weights and measures.

Absolutely crucial for the people in charge of fixing potholes and sorting out your bins to have a strong stance on constitutional matters which you believe are solely the preserve of Westminster.

In light of the Henry Dunbar story, it may well be the only criteria they have.
