What is the point of labour ?

Well, in 1999 their point was to steal Scotland's water and subsequently, Scotland's fields.

Anyone who votes Labour (or a party who isn't SNP or ALBA) is no friend to Scotland and they are traitors. No other word for it.

It’s an equidistant boundary between Scotland and rUK. It curves that way because the Scottish coast has a indenting v-shape westwards. It looks worse on a Mercator map projection.

Equidistant boundaries are the starting point for international maritime borders, with alternatives agreed by negotiation.

The 1987 boundary is still in effect for defining whether offshore installations fall under Scots law for civil jurisdiction. IMG_2005.thumb.jpeg.7cd0a4192fa01426b26bd4a8967d26e1.jpeg

Whip restored, aye, but banned from standing.

Steve Reed described a Jewish Tory donor as a "puppet master". He apologised and faced no investigation by the Labour Party because he'd already apologised. He is standing in this election.

Neil Coyle racially abused a British-Chinese reporter, saying "you look like you've been giving renminbi to Barry Gardiner" who was "funded by Fu Manchu". He was challenged on this racism by the reporter at the time and accused him of being "oversensitive", refusing to apologise until this was later made public and investigated. He later had the whip withdrawn while this, and a sexual harassment complaint, were investigated, with both complaints being upheld. He was also suspended from Parliament for five days for bullying and harassment. He ultimately had the whip reinstated after equality training (which he claimed expenses for) and is standing in this election.

Diane Abbott's conduct was far closer to Steve Reed than Neil Coyle. An unacceptable racist comment, albeit without the obvious antisemitic caricature of Reed, then an immediate apology when criticised before any formal disciplinary proceedings commenced. Yet where Reed faced no investigation, ostensibly due to apologising already, Abbott did despite doing the same. Following that investigation, which various members of the Labour front bench including Starmer himself lied about publicly for months in saying it was ongoing when they actually concluded it months ago without telling Abbott, she has the whip restored but is not allowed to stand, while Coyle is because he completed equality training, which Abbott also has.

Wonder what the difference here is. Definitely couldn't be that Labour are a racist party with a centrally controlled disciplinary process being used as a factional weapon rather than being made wholly independent, as recommended by any independent reports in the last five years!

Better to display your racism through a thin veil as with Gordon Brown's "British jobs for British workers" though to be honest, when the NF said that in the 70s it was fairly obvious what they meant.

She's been elected for 9 successive general elections since 1987 so she's popular with her constituents. The Labour investigation into her was completed last December but sat on until now to ensure she couldn't run as an independent. It's that antidemocratic and underhanded behaviour by Labour which folk are probably annoyed about.

I can understand that she's popular as a local MP, but for someone with 40 years experience in politics to write such a wild letter was incredible.

The BBC report also suggests the line at the time that she (or a member of her staff) sent the wrong draft was not true.

Sorry, but are some people still pretending they don't have to hold their noses, when discussing the absolute gang at the head of the Labour Party.

Pink austerity is gonna be great!

A left wing MP and candidate, respectively, getting cynically booted right on the deadline so they can't run as independents. Shaheen is fairly high profile and will be a particular loss. She could've risen in the ranks to a position of influence, eventually, beyond Starmer's reign. Not now.

And there it is. The arch villain himself confirmed.

The self-declared Zionist Shitlord, Luke Nukem himself.

It's hard not to sound like you're indulging in some rancid conspiracy theory when you say a member of Labour's NEC and now parliamentary candidate is literally a paid Israel lobbyist, and yet it is entirely true. His actual job is the director of We Believe in Israel.

A man who indulged in Alex Jones level conspiracies about footage of war crimes in Gaza being created by crisis actors. A man who argued in favour of arm sales to Saudi Arabia for the explicit purpose of bombing Yemen, because it was apparently necessary to stop Iran. A man who believes in using Trident as a warning shot. A man who has launched an antisemitic purge of the Labour membership against Jews who don't agree with his views on Israel, despite not being Jewish himself. An overt and unrepentant racist: this is who Starmer's Labour are.

On the plus side, this news has led to people sharing his purity test that all Labour members should have to pass again.

Hahaha! Delighted to see his purity test being brought up. I think the most telling one in that list is his Bevin versus Bevan match up.

Nye Bevan was most famous for creating the NHS.

Ernie Bevin was most famous for creating NATO.

"20 points for Bevin".

Akehurst is a horrible wee c**t who shouldn't be anywhere near power.

Genuinely worse than many of the current Tory MPs.

I’d never seen that before. The part about Vietnam is despicable.

Horrendous. That’s a position that even the most hawkish democrats have tried to distance themselves from (although they still won’t take responsibility for the major role their party played in prolonging the Vietnam war.)
