airdrieman
I didn’t have high expectations for the quality of the game today, but my word we were awful. Morton were far better than us in every department. Sharper on and off the ball, more physical and, albeit mostly when we were down to 10 men, cut us open and played through our midfield pretty easily. The midfield is so badly lacking any sort of presence, strength or poise on and off the ball. We’re too easy to play against - press us, approach our player in possession with any sort of physicality or put any more than one player in the tackle and you will win the ball. Cross the ball to the back post or play it to the edge of the box and you will score. But we’re not creating anything or looking close to scoring either. Our two ‘best’ chances were when MacDonald won the ball and then couldn’t beat the first man with his cross. And then when Frizzell inexplicably passed instead of shooting from 12 yards out near the end. I like the players that we’ve signed individually. But there’s no balance to that midfield and no way that it works cohesively and practically in the Championship. And with the squad that we’ve built no way of changing things, which is a problem when we’re getting ran over the top of like today. All 4 forwards played today and none of them are good enough to be leading the line for a Championship club. Hard to see how we turn things around without bringing in a couple of players this week.

Chapelhall chap
Initially this looked like a 0-0 as Morton's attacking edge petered out around the Airdrie box and Airdrie rarely got going in any forward sense. I'd need to see the one good chance for our Wilson but it was Morton who got the usual vital opener. The second yellow was well merited and lost us any real chance of competing. Morton were superior in so many ways from Wilson etc, even before that , but almost let the game slip with some missed chances. Ballantyne should have got the second earlier but it was a real thunderbolt second. It's a pity Frizzel didn't do the same from Mullen's error. Injuries have impacted us badly but that was abject today from so many of our side. A deserved win by Morton.
Chicken Soup
Didn’t make it along today but it’s satisfying to see that McGrattan/Lyall swap going well. I’ve been of the “we’ll be fine” mindset so far, and it would be far easier to maintain that position if Airdrie could detach themselves at the bottom of the division and let the rest of us relax.

michaelspinos
Interesting stat that Morton had no bookings today. Is that the first time under Imrie’s management that we’ve had a clean record?

TheGoon
Deserved that today, with a credible centre forward it’s more convincing. I thought McGinn had some lovely touches today, if he could still run he’d be a daft player for this level.
