peasy23
That's a great platform. Even if they just add 80 odd they'll have plenty. But the type of lower order batsmen might just go and rattle another 220.Unfortunately they are just as likely to ship 6 wickets for 40 runs, but they might even have enough of a lead already. Only 1 over before the new ball tomorrow, will take a monumental effort by the SA bowling attack to give them a target that's remotely catchable.

Sir Tarmo Kink
I’d say the current lead is already potentially good enough, but you’re wanting 300+ just to make sure of it. Stokes, Pope and Buttler will probably come in at a fast pace and you’d hope England will get to at least 320ish. Nice to see Sibley do well, just a shame he’ll have to partner an inexperienced Crawley or Jennings until next summer.
peasy23
Have you not been predicting doom and gloom for the entire test? My expectations of England in test matches abroad are never that high, but all too often they don't even manage to live up to them. The bowlers dragged them back into this one, and if they do go on to win like they should from here, it's hard to see how they could justify bringing Archer back for the next one. If Stokes and Buttler can hit top gear for an hour or so tomorrow then they should be well out of sight.

The rest were kind of in agreement but you could tell he really didn't like broad from their time together. Supposedly the next pitch is definetely not suited to Anderson or broad and much more to archer - but KP is an arsehole (albeit one with a big personality).
die hard doonhamer
England have put themselves in a tremendous position. Would expect them to try and have a high scoring season tomorrow morning then give themselves 5 sessions to bowl South Africa out. Hopefully Stokes can recreate a little of the innings he had on this ground 4 years ago.

SA's batting is just as fragile as England's so I can see them toiling to make it through 2 sessions tomorrow if England declare about lunch.

Eednud
24th Test Hundred for Dave WarnerPity. Only 6 of them away from home, 3 in South Africa (2014), 1 in Dubai (2014 v Pakistan) & 2 in Bangladesh (2017).
peasy23
Nortje missing out for SA this morning due to illness, certainly doesn't help their cause any.
peasy23
Stokes putting the hammer down already, 26 from 20 balls so far in the first 20 minutes play. New ball hasn't been taken yet, suspect it will be now. Maharaj has just caught him out with a couple of balls though.
Savage Henry
England have been excellent so far today. Something doesn’t add up.
peasy23
Stokes gets lucky, skying one that de Kock goes chasing but misses, looked like the man coming in from the boundary had a better angle to take it.50 partnership from 64 balls.
peasy23
50 from 34 balls from Stokes, exactly what England needed this morning.
peasy23
Ton for Sibley, fluked an edge through the slips to get on to 99, but hits a glorious reverse sweep off Maharaj for 4 to move onto 103.
peasy23
Time for England to really go for it, lead is 337 at the moment, try and get 400+ by lunch and put the Saffers in.
die hard doonhamer
Stokes has been outstanding this morning. As I type that he goes for 72 from 47. Exactly what England needed. Sibley's sweep to get to his ton was a glorious shot.
peasy23
Pope goes for 3, 315-6. Can Buttler do something similar to Stokes? Or will we have the standard 6 wickets for 40 runs?

I'm surprised Athers is talking about batting for an hour after lunch. I'll be surprised if SA get near 250 never mind the 373 England have at the moment.
