peasy23
Pakistan effectively 358-3 at stumps, awful day for England.
mjw
The coaching staff must wonder how they get two games in row out of this side.
peasy23
Surprised that Pakistan haven't declared yet, currently 469 ahead, already into record run chase territory.
peasy23
And then finally declare with a lead of 490.
wulliemc
Ali showing loose technique against the new ball once again. My 11 for the next test is Cook Hales (in the absence of anyone else) Taylor Root Stokes Ali Bairstow Rashid Broad Wood Anderson Stokes Ali and Bairstow could interchange if need be. Bell is finished and England took away a strength when they moved Ali. Butler giving way to Bairstow retains the multiple bowling options England are seeking
peasy23
Cook gone as well, didn't look right this morning at all.

Much better in the middle order with the older ball, as you say he was excellent there and was consistently scoring decent runs. The lack of another opener to partner Cook is causing problems, the usual suspects will be calling for Root to be moved there again, which would be another bad move.
Savage Henry
Stokes at five would far too high. For me, Ali bats at 8 or not at all. Sweet Baby James is next in line, but I suspect it's at the expense of the wicket keeper, who just looks frazzled. Hales should be opening if he's going to open in South Africa.
booitsme7
England resume after tea at 45-2 with 37 overs left in day 4.
peasy23
England are 361 runs behind at the close with 7 wickets in hand. Excellent innings from Root, he has to stay there all day tomorrow for England to have a chance. Not really sure that Bairstow can hang about, he was like a rabbit in the headlights at times there.
Fuctifano
Cook Hales Root (play your best bat at 3) Taylor Ali (he's not that bad a bat and you don't want your keeper much higher than 6) Bairstow Stokes Rashid Broad Wood Anderson
dorlomin
Another absolute stinker of a pitch. Not as bad as Abu Dhabi, but still not test standard. Should be an easy draw then. Eh.
mjw
Wickets tumbling early. Absolutely nothing to offer when Cook and Root go.
booitsme7
England reach tea with only 2 wickets remaining and will have to bat 31 more overs to get an unlikely draw,
jmothecat
England still hanging in their. Sounds like a great effort by Rashid.

peasy23
England still hanging in their. Sounds like a great effort by Rashid. Terrific knock, even more so in the circumstances. England still hanging on, down to 17 overs to go with 2 wickets in hand.
peasy23
9 down, Wood managing to see off 95 balls for his 29. Down to Anderson and Rashid now.
