Was there yesterday, cracking game, made getting pished on for 2 hours worth it. England fans were taking a leaf out the Celtic book with the complaints about the revised target- which is based on a computer program rather than some guy picking a number- but as the evidence showed, it's much easier to go at 8 an over for 25 overs than 6 an over for 50. I do think England got stiffed a bit with the D/L in the 2nd game but that was based on them being 7 down.

Kiwis still choked when it comes down to it, I think England might still have won if Santner had held that catch but it would have been tighter. NZ really miss Boult, he's quietly become one of he top 5 bowlers in the world.

There was a good piece on the D/L method on "More or less" the other day.

They talked to the Maths Professor who looks after it and he said it is regularly updated to take account of changes in the game which would support with English suggestions that the system will need changed again in the future but he also pointed out that there's an availability bias at work here. We remember more of the modern risk taking innings that worked and delivered 350+ and less of the modern risk taking innings that didn't come off. Average scores have gone up but variability has gone up even more dramatically

There is certainly a divide, squad wise and style between the red ball and white ball teams.

However, beating the World Cup finalists will surely have a positive effect on the likes of Root, Buttler, Stokes and Wood going into the Ashes.

I happen to think they've missed a trick by not getting Jason Gilkespie on board - you'd have to think he'll be the next Australia coach now - but if they play as aggressively in the future, it must surely impact on the test side. That said, how many of the one day team are likely to be in the first squad? And, having said that as well, how many will be in the second?

See there will be no changes to the proposed set-up of the World Cup in 2019 and looks like a 10-team World Cup set to stay.

Teams will be Hosts (England) plus the top 7 ODI teams and 2 Qualifiers.

As it stands the following nations would battle it out for two spots:

West Indies or Pakistan

Ireland

Zimbabwe

Afghanistan

Plus the top 4 teams from

Scotland

UAE

Hong Kong

Papua New Guinea

Netherlands

Namibia

Kenya

Nepal
