That's a great platform.

Even if they just add 80 odd they'll have plenty.

But the type of lower order batsmen might just go and rattle another 220.
Unfortunately they are just as likely to ship 6 wickets for 40 runs, but they might even have enough of a lead already. Only 1 over before the new ball tomorrow, will take a monumental effort by the SA bowling attack to give them a target that's remotely catchable.

Have you not been predicting doom and gloom for the entire test?

I’d say the current lead is already potentially good enough, but you’re wanting 300+ just to make sure of it. Stokes, Pope and Buttler will probably come in at a fast pace and you’d hope England will get to at least 320ish.

Nice to see Sibley do well, just a shame he’ll have to partner an inexperienced Crawley or Jennings until next summer.

My expectations of England in test matches abroad are never that high, but all too often they don't even manage to live up to them. The bowlers dragged them back into this one, and if they do go on to win like they should from here, it's hard to see how they could justify bringing Archer back for the next one. If Stokes and Buttler can hit top gear for an hour or so tomorrow then they should be well out of sight.

I was listening to talk sport 2 this morning (not a patch on TMS) and KP wouldn't shut up about dropping broad for archer.

The rest were kind of in agreement but you could tell he really didn't like broad from their time together.

Supposedly the next pitch is definetely not suited to Anderson or broad and much more to archer - but KP is an arsehole (albeit one with a big personality).

England have put themselves in a tremendous position. Would expect them to try and have a high scoring season tomorrow morning then give themselves 5 sessions to bowl South Africa out. Hopefully Stokes can recreate a little of the innings he had on this ground 4 years ago.

I don't think the pitch has shown many signs of becoming quite the minefield it was being predicted to be yet, but it will be interesting to see how it fares come day 5 if it goes that far. SA's batting is just as fragile as England's so I can see them toiling to make it through 2 sessions tomorrow if England declare about lunch.

That may well happen, but in this case it’s all about setting up the declaration.
I'm surprised Athers is talking about batting for an hour after lunch. I'll be surprised if SA get near 250 never mind the 373 England have at the moment.
