Projected PDC Order of Merit

This is the Projected OOM going into the World Championship - taking into account the loss of prize money earned from the 2012 edition. The £6,000 from this year's first round is included in the total, and it gives you an idea of what position the players are, in reality, in. Notably, Dave Chisnall in 4th would ensure his place in the upcoming Premier League, while Wayne Jones falls outside of the Top 32.

2012 World Championship Prize Money

Winner - £200,000

Runner-up - £100,000

Semi Finalists - £50,000

Quarter Finalists - £25,000

Third Round - £15,000

Second Round - £10,000

First Round - £6,000

For example, Adrian Lewis is defending that £200,000 from two years ago. Taking into account the first round prize money, he has £194,000 to make up and falls from third to fifth as a result. If a player lost in the 1st Round in 2012, then they have already broken even and any progression in the tournament would add to their overall total - example being Raymond van Barneveld.

So, what you see below is exactly the position the players will find themselves in as they begin the First Round of the 2014 World Championship.

Some cracking prospects in that first round draw. Michael Smith will be looking to stop that three year run of the Number 32 seed crashing out at the first round stage.

The picks for me are Burnett/Winstanley, Nicholson/Kellett and Webster/Suljovic. Anderson/Dudbridge could be tasty as well.

Certain moments make you realise just how great life can be. These occasions come all too rarely, and when they do, you fear that feeling may never be replicated again.

Steve Beaton has just followed me on Twitter.

Nobody ever shows any gratitude when I follow them.

Speaking of Twitter, John Part has finally started using his account. Until now, it has just been a young lad called Joe Thompson, who plays some events on the Tour tweeting on his behalf, but John made his first personal tweets today.

"Congratulations to @MvG180 on two excellent come back victories to earn him another major title. Spices the Christmas eggnog quite nicely!"

"Practicing hard for World Championship. Pretty sure I almost hit the double a few times. Can't wait!"
