He's basically waited until the cheque has cleared for Lakeside and moved. I'm assuming he has obviously told Uncle Barry prior to this to hold a tour card.

Glorious news and BDO deserve this for backing players into a corner with their daft Lakeside contracts.

Astonishing.

First time since the split that the defending champion won't be at the Lakeside.

Of course, he could quite conceivably have gone onto win it again, and it would be a seemingly never ending cycle of defences.

He's a brilliant player at the top of his game, and he could be a great success in the PDC. Obviously, the overall standard is higher on the Pro Tour, but he is more than capable of being highly successful.

You've got to fancy his chances of making it into the majors via the Pro Tour this year. It's going to be compelling to track his progress.

I believe the majors are using a rolling Pro Tour OOM for this year rather than a 1 year OOM so it will be harder for New players to qualify in their first year as majority of players will have a one year head start in terms of money gained.

Still he is good enough to win a fair whack of money in a short space of time so who knows.

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. Is it the same format as the main Order of Merit? As in, money earned counts for two years?

Very interesting if that's the case.

Looking at the Pro Tour from last year, Bunting is around £17,000 behind the players who made it into the majors last year.

With this system, it looks good for a certain Canadian three-time World Champion with £37,000 behind him...

I think they still have to defend the money they won a year earlier so Part will be hit pretty hard as he won that 20k in the early part of the year at a Euro Event eh?

So basically if you had a good back end of the year in 2013 its going to benefit you more for this year's majors.

That's just silly...

Part earned almost £30,000 by the end of April, so he's snookered...

You made my night, Neilly, and now you've crushed it...

Have a swatch of that.

Steve Beaton basically qualified I don't even remember him having a run but he clearly has somewhere!

I, for one, am shocked that Martin Adams has been outed as a bit of a c**t...

Statement from EDO [England Darts Organisation] Board of Directors 22.01.14

Whilst at the Lakeside in January, it became evident a confidential letter concerning International selection sent from the EDO Board of Directors to the EDO Selection panel had become common knowledge. This caused major problems for one of our Directors and his party.

This constituted a breach of trust of this letter and the discussions which were held in the selection process; the person concerned is no longer part of the selection committee.

As a result of this breach of confidence, the EDO Board feels they have no alternative, but to make this public statement.

The Directors of England Darts have the right to include or exclude any player/players from representing our Country; we will not tolerate abuse of other players or England’s nominated officials. England further makes it clear that there are procedures to deal with any issues, these procedures, do not include publicly abusing officials or sponsors.

Martin Adams was not selected to represent England at the 2013 6 Nations in The Netherlands. He received a phone call advising him of his non-selection, and was given the option by the Board of Directors to announce that he was unavailable. He chose to accept this course of action and therefor preventing any undue embarrassment in acknowledgement of his past services; the England Board of Directors complied.

Martin Adams over a period of years, has made it known that he wishes nothing to do with England Darts, he has on a number of occasions publically abused the Directors and their officials at EDO events. He also acted in an inappropriate manner whilst representing England, which could have resulted in England being sanctioned, but for the intervention of the EDO officials present and the goodwill of the aggrieved countries officials.

Unfortunately the respect shown to Martin Adams by the EDO board has never been reciprocated.

On behalf of the Board of Directors.

Chairman

Tommy Thompson

Ando beat Pipe 6-5 in the final.

Indeed. His first Tour win in 3 years. Pipe missed three match darts to win, but that's a huge result for Anderson.

Good start to the season for all of these guys in the Quarters onwards, who pocket a minimum of £3,000. Not least Mr. Part who recently welcomed a mini-Darth Maple into the world.

Quarter-Finals

Michael van Gerwen 5-6 Jelle Klaasen

John Part 3-6 Justin Pipe

Raymond van Barneveld 2-6 Ronnie Baxter

Ian White 4-6 Gary Anderson

Semi-Finals

Jelle Klaasen 5-6 Justin Pipe

Ronnie Baxter 4-6 Gary Anderson

Final

Justin Pipe 5-6 Gary Anderson
