John Lambies Doos
Another Irish ref for Glasgow down in Cardiff. George Clancy. dogmc
Cmon lads.. moaning about neutrality and got it this wk....Although in fairness clancy is a w**k Yep he's not biased just incredibly incompetent especially with the scrums n rucks. He will either blindly guess or simply award the pens to the higher ranked side. Given that both sides are at top end of table there will be plenty of guessing.

dogmc
Whoever dominates the first couple of scrums will be awarded the majority of the penalties Yep.....which is ridiculous. If referees ensure the ball is fed down the middle and props didn't have their elbows pointing down scrums would be completed far more often. It's really fustrating see how badly the scrum is refereed now compared to 20 years ago. Too many people in the irb (especially sh ) trying to turn union scrums into league scrums.

come on shire
Agreed. Hogg has been consistent in the recent past whilst Halfpenny was a long term injury absentee aswell. In other news, I'm off to Cardiff tomorrow. Got a ticket for the terrace. Hoping the rain stays off. Last time I had a terrace ticket was last season in Galway when it came down like Noah's flood.
invergowrie arab
My fear for Hogg is that he is not a good enough defensive full back for the first xv
dogmc
My fear for Hogg is that he is not a good enough defensive full back for the first xv Hogg is excellent defensively....possibly due to coming through some poor Scotland teams.
John Lambies Doos
Hogg is a much better player than halfpenny. Much better.. he has improved tremendously under the high ball too (one of halfpenny strengths, along with place kicking)Gatland will pick halfpenny. Really can't be arsed with the lions anymore. In absence of any Scottish starter, I'll be supporting NZ

In absence of any Scottish starter, I'll be supporting NZ I've always enjoyed the Lions but if this is another tour where scottish players deserving of places are ignored, we should pull out of it altogether. Suspect the high profile commercial sponsorship has resulted in a desire to pander to English n Welsh audiences rather than what is best for the Lions to beat their opponents. The last tour was a joke, only redeemed by weak opposition. This time round it needs best possible squad to get near nz. Anything less will be a full blown humiliation possibly even worse than Woodwards tour.
honestly united
I think Nel will be a shoe in for a spot in the starting team, but apart from that I think we could struggle to get any others in the team. I cant see anyother front row players getting close to the team, maybe dickinson might be in the squad, although Ford is a Lion already, maybe he has the same pictures of the Lions selectors as the scottish management. 2nd row, one or maybe both the Gray's are in with a shout, although Itoje and Kruis are definetly the first choice, and you have Lawes as well in the mix Back row - Apart from Hardie I cant see anyone being near the squad, although the 2 welsh open sides may force him out Backs, Laidlaw will probably get in the squad, and end up captaining the midweek team but I would see this being a more political choice. Russel would be an outside choice at 10, but Sexton, Ford, Farrell, Biggar are probably ahead of him. Centers - Dunbar, Taylor, Bennett are all outside bets, but given how Gatland will want to play, not sure any fit in. Davies and Roberts are show in for the squad along with Henshaw Wings - I think Seymour will get in the squad, and maybe the only other Scot to start. Other wings are in with a shout. Hogg vs Halfpenny - Halfpenny is bound to get in the team unless he picks Farrell at 10 or 12 as they will need a goal kicker. Hogg should make the squad though as it would be a travesty if he was left out altogether
