kiwififer
anybody been following the story of the French player Mathieu Bastareaud? He complained he was beaten up in Welly after the last test, then it was a team mate, now he's been admitted to a psychiatric ward in Paris. Turns out, he fell over when pissed! The French PM has written an apology to the Kiwi PM. I suppose it makes up for the Rainbow Warrior..... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8129809.stm
Laid Back Maverick
anybody been following the story of the French player Mathieu Bastareaud? Turns out, he fell over when pissed! The French PM has written an apology to the Kiwi PM. I suppose it makes up for the Rainbow Warrior..... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8129809.stm Interesting (to me anyway!) end of that story was that Greenpeace refloated the Rainbow Warrior and resunk her a year and a half later as an "artificial reef". 8 years later Greenpeace told lies about the Brent Spar (they now admitting to doing so!) to stop it being dumped in the deep waters of the Atlantic. Hypocrites. Edited July 3, 2009 by Max Ray
kiwififer
what pissed everyone off here is not the fact that Greenpeace tells lies, it's that the French have blasted several island to pieces up the road in Tahiti, and the fact that spies sunk it in Auckland harbour. Wars have started for lesser things. But that's not for this thread.....
kiwififer
bumpity bump bump bump. Enjoy the game last night lads? Personally, OZ was running away with it for the first part of the game, blew a ten point lead, and to quote the the Aussie press... For the upteenth time since 1986, the Wallabies showed they are not yet mentally up to beating the All Blacks on home soil.
Laid Back Maverick
A very enjoyable game for what I saw (last 5mins of first half and all of second half). I was watching NZ when they defend lineouts, they make no attempt to compete for the ball, they stand their ground to form a defensive wall. Scotland should learn from that - we constantly lose two players hoisting Nathan Hines etc into the air to try and intercept a ball (which is often squint!) only to miss it and realise we have 3 less players available to defend.
kiwififer
NZ couldn't catch anything in the lineouts last night, half the balls were all over the place, and the aussie's were rampaging about like they were playing against the warriors. Then McCaw got the try.......

kiwififer
Back to back defeats to the Boks, what's the word on the All Blacks street kiwififer? Stupid mistakes, most of the key players never showed up, and general shitness was most of the excuses over here. The AB's will get hammered in Sydney next. Which is actually good IMO, they are too fixated on the tri-nations at times, it's the only thing they ever bloody think about. edited to add - the bok's are just frightening as well just now. airdrieman
COME ON YOU SAINTS today!! Will it be yet another challenge cup victory? This is probably Huddersfields best chance to beat us but if they don't I see us taking another challenge cup as I think we will be to strong for Warrington. Cunningham could be out but Long and Roby might be back. Hopefully they are. Both are class players. airdrieman
I can't believe its a Huddersfield Warrington final. Come on u Wolves!!!!! Aye I know. Who would have thought it at the beginning of the season. I expect Huddersfield to be really strong next season. They could possibly even win the championship if they keep getting quality players like Long. Looks like Saints are going to need to get a couple of new guys in at the end of the season because our great team of the latest era of super league is starting to fall apart and I don't think some of the young guys are ready yet. In a couple of years though hopefully they will be to emulate what this great team we have just now has done.

Swarley
it's a bit quiet on this thread just now.Anyone watching any rugby, say in Sydney last week? I wondered when you'd appear! Did watch the game, whatever the All Blacks put in their tea at half time should be tested. They were unlucky to have 2 tries chalked off but that McGraw bloke is a bit of a niggly get.

The thing is though, that Deans is building for the future from what I see. The tri-nations id the testing ground, but he's got one eye on the next WC, and let's face it, there ain't an Aussie alive that doesn't want to win it over here. I've just actually drove past Eden Park, and the renovations are coming along nicely, but the cake tin is still the best ground here without doubt. I'm wondering what Waikato will look like, cause it looks like an oversized gala fairydean stand with extra bits, no where near ready to host WC games... When is it your turn to be raped by the bok's btw?
Swarley
When is it your turn to be raped by the bok's btw? This Saturday, given their abject failure last weekend at Union and cricket, I don't think the locals are really looking forward to it.
