There were at least 2 over the weekend that went to bunker review and remained a yellow. The one in the wales game I didnt even think it was a yellow as the player was already being tackled and fell into his shoulder and he was already fairly low

Well I can discard that hypothesis in response to more data then

I know referees are sometimes a touchy subject on this thread, but appointments for the RWC pools are up:

SA v Scotland - Angus Gardner

Scotland v Tonga - Karl Dickson

Scotland v Romania - Wayne Barnes

Ireland v Scotland - Nic Berry

Jaco Peyper has the opening game.

No Matt Carley is a huge bonus, as is no Reynal

We had Nic Berry for the 2nd France game, I thought he was ok (was he?)

Angus Gardner for SA, not sure if that is good or bad

Edit to add Gardner did the Italy game is 6Nations so will be re-watching that also

I thought Berry was pretty bad in the second France game, but in a "bad for both teams" kind of way.

Karl Dickson should be nowhere near the RWC refereeing panel.

I’d be tempted to prevent him attending any of the games as a spectator as well tbqhwy

The one thing about Dickson is that I'm pretty sure he's a big team ref who will happily f**k over the Tongans all day because he assumes it's all their fault.

A much stronger team than I expected. Pleased to see White back but why risk him. Wouldn't have Finn, Duhan or Jones anywhere near the starting xv on Saturday

Townsend will get pelters if any of them get injured. I'd have thought this would have been one to play your "Starting against Romania" team.

It's a no-win with the team he picks for this game.

Last time, they rested the big guns, lost the big games at RWC and got accused of being undercooked. This time, if someone gets injured, it will be "Why the f**k did he pick him for that meaningless game anyway".

I think White had to start to get some game time. He's likely the starting 9 at RWC, and has only played that half hour or so against France since the 6th of May

Yeah, fair enough, White definitely needs the game, and I suppose you want him next to Russell, so you probably want Huwipolutu outside that and so on. Think we could have easily dropped Graham and DVM, and surprised Crosbie and Turner aren't even in the 23.

When you look at it, that back line is really strong.

With the 7 backs who aren't starting, you could have had Kinghorn, Steyn, Harris, Redpath, Horne, Healy, Price. With the exception of sticking George Horne on the wing because we have 3 scrum halves rather than two distinct backlines, you'd happily start most games with that.

Imagine if we had that 2nd-ish string backline in the 2007 RWC - the backline that started the QF against Argentina was R Lamont, S Lamont, Webster, Dewey, Paterson, Parks, Blair. How many of them would honestly be in the squad this time?

Offt, Paterson and Blair the only two, though I think both would be pushing for a start.
