So, a good refereeing performance ?

Not particularly. But the constant complaining at every breakdown, in every single game Scotland play on here, is biased, boring and a pain the arse to read. The same posters are guilty of it during every test, and there’s never mention of anything that might go our way.

It’s always seemingly us that are being screwed by the referee.

Referee has blatantly been poor, but we’ve also been comfortably beaten by a better team despite how this thread tries to make it seem.

I totally agree with the result, but that in no way excuses the officiating.  It was always going to be a huge task, but it was made much harder.

It’s quite difficult not to criticise the refereeing team in this one and argue they have not hugely impacted us given the blatant red card missed two minutes in.

You can criticise them for that, absolutely.

That has nothing to do with the 75+ minutes of whingeing about everything else though.

Scotland were not good enough.

Red card being missed by the TMO that early in the game may have changed things and we are right to feel aggrieved about that, but the inaccuracy in lineout and an inability to change up the attack to break the rush defence was the biggest problem for me.

Kind of as expected. Darcy f*cked it big style in first half. Whitehouse should be retired from rugby as he is ultimately the one who called the red card that never was. But the difference between 78 mins v 14 cannot possibly be passed off as whinging about referees - it was egregious, blatant and just disgraceful. Gardner was shite, Scotland made too many basic mistakes to stay in the game. Line out was a shambles. Hopefully we can bring that level of intensity against Ireland.

100% it should be a red especially after the England one yesterday but that result was all down to scotlands mistakes, don’t think we won a line out in their half. Gifted so many penalties and turnovers.

obviously South Africa are very good and closed down every chance we had but we didn’t help ourselves.

So far head contact has resulted in a yellow upgraded to red, a yellow not upgraded, and sweet fanny Adams.   Rugby sometimes dies not help itself.

The ITV review chronology has messed with my brain.

It’s fair to say we’re allowed to moan at the ref when it’s so fundamental to how the game panned out.

How dare you. What the ref and S7C says goes

There is a real issue in international rugby of inconsistent refereeing.  I wouldn't mind if there were different standards applied during games - so long as those standards are applied consistently to both sides - but far too often that isn't the case.  It's not always us that's been hurt by it as well - we've been the beneficiary of some awful refereeing in the past against smaller teams.
