For all the stick he takes from their fans, so far Sam Cane has shown exactly why he has to be in their team

An outrageous performance from a man who gets a really hard time from people who don't understand the role he's there to play.

That two kiwis scoring for Ireland so far aye?

And two Aucklanders at that, neither of them deemed good enough for NZ rugby and obviously James Lowe as well.

Ireland get away with murder in most games, they play just over the edge of legality and normally get away with it due to their standing in the game - constantly offside, forward passes, squint lineouts, flying over rucks and blocking off teams competing fairly for the ball etc. still a great team though, just met their match tonight.

Nice to see a ref actually refereeing both teams for a change.

And as for that bellend Sexton - a whinging, cheating wee p***k who embodies zero traditional rugby values. Absolutely classless to the very end. f**k him.

Get it right up ye Johnny Sexton you utter arse! 🤣

I was hoping we were going to get a third moaning faced C**t of a stand off sent home but it wasnt too be.

2 absolutely fantastic quarters which would have graced any final, and the other 2 although not as high quality equally engrossing.

I can see both semi's next week being a rout, and a NZ v SA final. Again disappointing showing from the NH when it counted with England the last man standing.

From a Scotland perspective I would have fancied our chances more vs France and NZ than Ireland and SA as we just dont play well vs stuffy, defensive minded teams, and we would have got more chances against France and NZ to play. We are definitely above Wales and England at the moment, and hopefully we can have a good 6N's to bounce back

Yeah - the only question from the AB's was whether Telea came straight back in for Fainga'anuku... there was never going to be too many other changes.

Bit of a luxury being able to swap Whitelock for Retallick, two of the best locks ever.

Love this "spirit of the Lions" shite. For years we are told our players are just too shite and we should pipe down and get behind the guys who deserve to be there, until if course we actually do have a few players worth a shot, and it's a complete meltdown, with the Scottish players being exclusively blamed for pretty much everything, conspiracy theories about Townsend "poisoning" Gatland's mind, and Welsh fans actually trying to get Hogg suspended for a non existent eye gouge to the point where he had to actually come out and address the accusations because they were so widespread.

"Spirit of the Lions" folks.

The Lions is waste of time and reason the Northern Hemipshere is so far behind, because we put the south on a pedestal and adds to the belief that we can only beat one of them if we band together as one team.

the next tour is going to be a laughing stock, picking all the best players to go and face an Australia team that the Scottish A team would have no problem beating. Gatland will get the head coach gig and we will squeak a 2-1 series win playing utterly dreadful rugby. We will have Sky trying to talk up Eddie Jones and his team, that lost to Fiji and were hammered by the worst Wales side in years as some sort of rugby powerhouse.

It's a relic of an era when touring in the southern hemisphere was a far bigger logistical challenge than it is now

England didn't tour to New Zealand until 1963, Scotland didn't go till 1975 by which time the Lions had been there 8 times

These days we've got Edinburgh and Cardiff travelling a quarter of the way round the world to play league games
