Israel And The Palestinians (now with added Iran)

There simply will never be a holding peace in the area, and eventually Israel will be obliterated by its enemies. But until then, this shitfest will continue.

^^^ Sadomasochist, enjoys watching people inflicting pain and suffering upon others, so long as it isn't himself on the receiving end, imo.

Israel originally supported Hamas as they emerged in the Eighties in order to undermine the PLO and Arafat. By undermining or assassinating any leader with the backing and intelligence to be worth negotiating with, they can continue to drivel on about wanting peace and a 2 state solution while lamenting the fact there's nobody to talk to, and continue expanding their settlements.

"Scottish Jews will proudly tell you that theirs is the only country in Europe where a Jew has never been murdered for being a Jew. However, a few will cynically add that although this may be accurate historically, the local community is small and relatively young, going back only two centuries. Also, as part of the British Isles, Scotland was one of the few parts of Europe not occupied by Nazi Germany."

If you starve Hamas of support, then they lose their power. If you do what Israel do, then Hamas will continue to grow. It really is that simple. The way to stop this is by making individual people happy and content, give them something to lose, and watch support for extremism fall away. Israel though, freely admit to starving people, and they seem to be taking actions to stop education. If people can't go to school, then they won't get an education. If they don't get an education, then they are more inclined to fall for extremism. The solution is always to tackle the root of the issue. If the ordinary people are educated and relatively content, then they are less inclined to support lunatic fringes.

This isn't a radical statement, its a proven fact. One which Israel seems hell bent on ignoring.

Actually, Israel bulldozed and carted away their homes and businesses so that not a trace remained behind for the Palestinians to actually use. They left behind absolute economic devastation. So lets not try and put too much of a spin on it eh? And when you leave behind misery and devastation, who do you think people will support? Oh, and while withdrawing from there, they stepped up their actions in the west bank significantly.

I find this a compelling analysis written two and a half years ago now...

The Future of Palestine: Righteous Jews vs. the New Afrikaners

....The most likely outcome in the absence of a two-state solution is that Greater Israel will become a full-fledged apartheid state. As anyone who has spent time in the Occupied Territories knows, it is already an incipient apartheid state with separate laws, separate roads, and separate housing for Israelis and Palestinians, who are essentially confined to impoverished enclaves that they can leave and enter only with great difficulty.

Israelis and their American supporters invariably bristle at the comparison to white rule in South Africa, but that is their future if they create a Greater Israel while denying full political rights to an Arab population that will soon outnumber the Jewish population in the entirety of the land. Indeed, two former Israeli prime ministers have made this very point. Ehud Olmert, who was Netanyahu's predecessor, said in late November 2007 that if "the two-state solution collapses," Israel will "face a South-African-style struggle." He went so far as to argue that, "as soon as that happens, the state of Israel is finished." Former Prime Minister Ehud Barak, who is now Israel's defense minister, said in early February of this year that, "As long as in this territory west of the Jordan River there is only one political entity called Israel it is going to be either non-Jewish, or non-democratic. If this bloc of millions of Palestinians cannot vote, that will be an apartheid state."

The authour Professor John J. Mearsheimer then predicts the following outcome...

The bottom line is that Israel will not be able to maintain itself as an apartheid state over the long term, because it will not be able to depend on the American Jewish community to defend its loathsome policies toward the Palestinians. And without that protection, Israel is doomed, because public opinion in the West will turn decisively against Israel, as it turns itself into a full-fledged apartheid state.

Thus, I believe that Greater Israel will eventually become a democratic bi-national state, and the Palestinians will dominate its politics, because they will outnumber the Jews in the land between the Jordan and the Mediterranean.

I however do not share this view. "Righteous Jews" will not win the battle over the "New Afrikaners" as Mearsheimer predicts. Instead the supremacist extremists faced with this 'demographic problem' will attempt to ignite a major war in order to 'cleanse' Israel. They will do this long before they meekly accept the end of of the Jewish State. This is why we get endless Iran War chat. It is the holy grail for them, a massive war in which they can 'justify' mass expulsions and an enormous additional land grab.

If we are all going to die in a global nuclear war then it will be these folks who start it. They are the most dangerous people on earth by a considerable margin.

Chomsky sums it up well...

"The incursion and bombardment of Gaza is not about destroying Hamas. It is not about stopping rocket fire into Israel, it is not about achieving peace.

The Israeli decision to rain death and destruction on Gaza, to use lethal weapons of the modern battlefield on a largely defenseless civilian population, is the final phase in a decades-long campaign to ethnically-cleanse Palestinians.

Israel uses sophisticated attack jets and naval vessels to bomb densely-crowded refugee camps, schools, apartment blocks, mosques, and slums to attack a population that has no air force, no air defense, no navy, no heavy weapons, no artillery units, no mechanized armor, no command in control, no army… and calls it a war. It is not a war, it is murder.

"When Israelis in the occupied territories now claim that they have to defend themselves, they are defending themselves in the sense that any military occupier has to defend itself against the population they are crushing. You can't defend yourself when you're militarily occupying someone else's land. That's not defense. Call it what you like, it's not defense."

Chomsky is a fud. Used to be worth listening to but I stopped giving a f**k about his opinion right around the time he became an apologist for Serbian genocidaires.

Israel does not call it war, they call it surgical strikes against terrorist targets. Israel has a right to defend it's people from rocket fire, and taking out launch sites is critical to doing that. Lay the finger at Hamas and similar groups who use civilian shields such as the aforementioned schools, apartment blocks and mosques. Now, we must all agree that these rocket attacks can not go unanswered, the question is is there a better way to deal with them than precision strikes?

Which part of "The Arab world don't and never have wanted a 2 state solution" do people not get.....?

The so-called "2 state solution" is a squalid 'compromise' that simply isn't viable. It's as if Neil Doncaster had been asked to find a solution the problem.

It's in the interests of the Israelis to draw up a proper working settlement or fucking off, because if they don't do the former then the demographics will either abort their state or turn it into a grubby little apartheid regime.
