    Or his heads been turned.

Far too much of an easy trope. These guys are professionals. Dylan will know he holds the cards for the transfer window(s) but also that if his levels drop it’ll harm him. We’re going through a wee sticky patch and his form has dropped slightly. He’s also been carrying a wee knock. A totally normal thing to happen during a season.

Dundee United looking really strong now that they’ve added Wotherspoon and Grieve. I don’t envisage them dropping too many points now between now and season close.

2nd would definitely be regarded as a good season but with summer recruitment it had to be top 4.

There’s work to be done though as PT ain’t too far back and we’ve issues to be addressed. Still a very unsettled back 4, shoehorning defenders in there. Not adapted to the loss of Stanton as yet, KD injured and a loss of form from a few.

Hopefully Murray and the board have got a couple of aces up their sleeve soon as we’re sitting watching the teams currently sitting in 2nd and 3rd do some tidy business.

Seen a lot of posts about how we’ve not adapted to the loss of Stanton. Of course we’ve not, he’s our best player. Take any team’s best player out of their 11 and watch them struggle without them - from the very top levels of the game  to the very bottom.

I do think we need a wee freshen up and do also think we’ll get it. We now need a centre half for sure. I’m quite confident it’ll be Lee Ashcroft. I think we’ll see Gullan leave and a proper striker come in. I also think we’ll probably see Lewis Stevenson come in for the left back position. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a few more players go to free up space in the wage budget for new faces.

Dan O’Reilly is an odd one. With some of the reactions from some of our fans you’d think we’d lost a prime Franco Baresi. Let’s not forget that he was kept out of the team by central midfielder Scott Brown for a number of weeks. Very good at attacking the ball but prone to rashness and I always got the impression that Murray wasn’t interested in breaking the bank to keep him. He’s not a Premiership centre half so doesn’t make sense to offer him a deal beyond the end of the season given our current position and ambitions. I don’t blame Dan for taking the longer term deal on more money. Anyone would do the same. Good luck to him.

Didn't realise Millen was the Roberto Carlos of our team 😂

We played fine without Millen earlier in the year when McGill deputised there.

As I said my choice of team, yours and everybody elses will differ. That's the nature of football.

Millen is 100x the full back Scott McGill is, man.

As an overall I think if we could look at a left back.

Dick is good at the heart of the  defence and would be good with O'Reilly if we can sign him up.

I think a pacey right winger would be a good shout. Mullin throws in a good ball but he is woefully slow on a counter attack, which was evident against Dunfermline on a couple of occasions and lost possession in good positions. It would be good as a different option.

I also think we need another centre forward to rival Hamilton. When Hamilton isn't firing on all cylinders or is injured we really struggle. I don't think Gullan is upto much to be honest. He tries but he just isn't the same since his return from Hibs.

I feel McGill is under utilised at times but when we have Brown, Stanton and Byrne all fit then midfield will be very difficult to break into as I think Rossco will find out as well.

We have an embarrassment of riches on the left with Easton, Smith and even Connolly if we actually tried him on the side his foot is made for.

    Fully fit at the moment, my team would be;

                   Dabrowski

         O'Reilly Watson Dick

    Mullin Byrne Brown Easton

                     Stanton

          Vaughan Hamilton

You could make cases for Connolly, Millen, Murray, Smith to start as well. Really is an embarrassment of riches but we need to get it right as these riches are back firing at times.

I've made a case all year about the huge gap in midfield at times and not controlling games and every time we've went with 5 in midfield, either pushing for an equaliser or winner we've looked brilliant. They 3 in midfield I believe would be the key to us maintaining our push.

    At present

    My midfield would be;

Mullin Byrne Brown Connolly or Smith with Easton playing behind the front 2 of Vaughan and Hamilton. I'd really like to see Easton in that creative spot and full freedom of the pitch.

Sorry for the lengthly post 😂

3-5-2 could happen if O'Reilly stays and Watson gets back on the pitch. Who would play the wing backs roles though. Would we go with Dick and Millen or go more positive with Smith and Connolly.

Any suggestion that we play any formation that doesn’t involve Ross Millen is mad chat.

Yes, I am praising a performance from a second string team who had the measure of the league leaders. We are not doing very well up front, but still managed to score against you lot. we have players out of position all over the place and pick up injuries like yellow cards, but we kept a respectable score line. Even in defeat we showed the league leaders that they weren't that great against us considering the amount of players we have out right now.
TBH, I think you should be a bit more humble considering the team we are forced to field right now.
to talk of “tiny wee team mentality“ proves you lot have an inferiority complex IMO, and deep down you know that in comparison to us you’ll always be a wee team no matter how often you beat us in a season. Remember this, a full strength Rovers, winning 2-1 against a decimated Pars team is not much to be proud of, unless you have a wee team mentality.

Silly wee mentality and raging. Braw.

What? I’d have said we scored against the run of play. We certainly weren’t well on top. Thought we started quite brightly for the first 10 minutes, then conceded a goal and fell apart until we got an equaliser. I’m genuinely confused that anyone would think we were ‘well on top’ when we scored.

You’re actually totally correct, it was against the run of play. Tried to say that you had the opportunity to be well on top following the goal but typed something entirely different. Fair assessment.

Shout out to the stewards for preventing the pyro getting in today. Good job 👍 lads!

Maybe if they’d done a better job Dunfermline would’ve got another goal at the only point in the game where they were well on top. In the end, their thick as dogshit wee ultras stopped the game from restarting and we got ourselves together and Dunfermline lost all their momentum. Doubt there’ll be many hospitals missing their brain surgeons this afternoon cause they were too busy throwing rolled up bits of paper in the NW.

I’m not surprised that we lost, and to be fair we were way better than I thought we would have been.
We all know that top teams can grind out a result against the toughest of opposition, and Rovers showed that today.
I must admit, and I’m sure the unblinkered Rovers fans will agree that our makeshift Pars team did themselves proud today, even in defeat. I’m taking nothing away from a Rovers team that are flying right now, they are the best championship team I’ve seen this season, but I’m delighted by the performance our boys put in today.
I expected to see us lose today, but we gave a bloody good account of ourselves in this match against the most in form team in this league.
I’m a happy Pars fan today despite our lack of options for a starting 11.
im happy in the knowledge that we can only get stronger as our lads come back from injury, and hopefully more so with the chance to strengthen in this window

Tiny wee team mentality. You’ve just been pumped for the fourth time this season, this time at home by a team with a one legged goalie and you’re on here praising your side. Levels to this game, I suppose.

  10. Lewis fucking Vaughan. The love I’ve got for that guy. After all he’s been through to be sitting on 10 goals and top of the scorers list in the Championship is testament to not only his character but his quality and intelligence on the football park. He’s not charging round the park or chasing the full back down, but when the time comes he’s finding himself in the right place more often than not.

His third goal is a perfect example of his elite tier football intelligence. He sprays the ball out to Connolly from the left side then starts to run towards the box. As that brilliantly lifted, clipped ball from Connolly comes into him, Vaughan has sensed the space behind the centre half is available and already knows that Connolly has the ability to lift that ball over the defender and into him. He times his run into the vacant space perfectly. How many strikers in this league, at that point, try and take the ball on the chest and bring it down, then end up getting shown away from goal? Not Lewis Vaughan. Within the second it takes the ball to get to him, he’s sussed out where he is, where the goal is, where the goalkeeper is and the best way to get the ball into the back of the net. A sensational goal.

I do wonder if we are beginning to see the evolution of Vaughan from tricky, nippy number 10 into just an all out goalscorer. There is no doubt he has, understandably, lost a wee touch of pace, but he certainly hasn’t lost any of his ability on the ball, touch, vision and now seemingly added an improved goal scoring ability to his arsenal. That’s him been back properly a year and it’s easy to just take him for granted but, although we didn’t get the result last night, watching him back to his best is honestly very deserving of just taking a wee step back for a moment and appreciating what we get to watch with him.

  11. Barrowman saying all the right things there to try and alleviate some of the fan concerns around players possibly being snapped up on PCA’s or just simply losing them at the end of the season.  We are an attractive proposition right now and that will work in our favour, I think. Would be great to get some good news on the contract front soon, whether that’s for the management team or some first team players.

As for January, Tiffoney would be a brilliant signing but if he is going out on loan in January - and I’ve seen nothing to suggest he will by the way - he won’t be short of suitors. What will work in our favour with him is him being a Dundee player. I’d love us to get him in.

  12. I think Easton performs at his best when he’s got a manager who’s happy to put his arm around him and make him feel wanted, plus one who’s happy to let him play in that free role. He’s got all that in Ian Murray. I’m not sure Easton goes to a Premiership side and gets that sort of treatment. He’s loving it here and is playing the football of his career. All of that being said, this is probably his last crack at a really big contract, so if one was to be tabled for him, it’d be hard to turn down for him. He’s a young family to look after, which is the main thing for him.
