This season alone John McGlynn stained the club's reputation with his relentless pursuit of Goodwillie, bottled a genuine title challenge to finish outside even the Top 4 and then fucks off to a L1 side for more money.

Are the plans for the statue still on, aye?

Oh aye, right after you guys erect ones to Yogi and Masterton.

We have a no bad core of players and there is space in each position for a new manager to make his stamp. I reckon we've got about 2 to 3 weeks to run a recruitment campaign. There's plenty of chance to build a team beyond that.

The last 4 months have been fucking murder and I'm glad they are behind us. Now there is an opportunity to really freshen up the squad and re-engage with the community aspects of the club. Been quite clear that McGlynn has not enjoyed the last few months either and I wasn't particularly looking forward to starting the next campaign with more of the same.

A big big couple of weeks for the board to show their credentials. A decent, forward thinking appointment and a deal to rid the club of Goodwillie gets us fully to the next chapter. Whilst I have little faith, you just never know....

It 's the hope that kills you :)

You still think they Are capable of any of that?

The gang of 4 are obviously so incompetent they couldn't run a bath never mind a football club.

Wonder how many of the players will follow John McGlynn to Falkirk? It's no secret that many of the guys we signed during his time chose the Rovers over other better heeled outfits, why? because he was there and he is liked and respected by players.

Said for months now we are likely to sign Danny Lenon, watch this space!  Yup that'll have season tickets flying off the shelves.

5 years of upward momentum spectacularly fucked by a hapless buch of egotistical incompetents.

Angry and upset but no longer by any means surprised.

  3. Not only does Sim hold all the cards, he maneuvers (has at present) in to a position where anyone who was not of his thinking gets forced out (Phillips, McDermid, Caira, Clark, Mill) so that he's completely surrounded by his yes men pals.  I hope Susan Simpson is made of sterner stuff and is soon to be joined by others with more vision, understanding and integrity.

Nothing is ever easy but it's tough to effect change when all the good guys are on the outside and the tyrant occupies the higher ground (though clearly not morally!). Nothing is impossible though  I recall yon wee Chinese student who stood up to a tank, so there's hope.

I was all for McGlynn being replaced but seeing names like Kevin Thomson, and Jim McInally being thrown around has definitely changed my mind. Absolutely terrible shouts.

    And you suggest?

I think the point is there isn't anyone to suggest.

No one is going near mcinally. He has done nothing to suggest he is a good manager and realistically the only reason he's still at Peterhead is because of who his father in law is. Thomson has done nothing to really show he is a good manager. Next season will be more of a test for Kelty in league 1 and that's where he could potentially start making a name for himself with that. There isn't really anyone better than mcglynn available right now and the names being banded about here, when we don't even know what's happening with mcglynn, are pretty terrible.

    Like, we keep McGlynn?

Taking those posts in order is exactly where my mind set is.

McInally? No ta, experienced but simply has not done enough.

Thomson? No ta, almost no experience and to be honest with the money and squad assembled a trained monkey could have them winning the league, I mean just look at how successful the previous guy was!

I have to agree with keeping McGlynn as I am yet to see anyone listed as a better option. Now if one was to become available that'd be different but my fear is that McGlynn gets told his contract isn't being renewed and the job gets handed to Danny Lennon.

At least for the time being this for me is 100% a "better the devil you know" scenario.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Tommy Wright though.

  5. If Raith Tv were to do an interview at the end of the season with John I think I could guess the jist of his speech.

This season was always going to be tough after doing so well last season and then losing some of the key players. We thought we'd recruited well and early season form of Dario and Aidan suggested we wouldn't struggle for goals. Losing Lewis Vaughan was a major blow but the losing of Brad from the midfield in the 2nd quarter was pivotal. It took a while for Ben and Sam to get up to speed and I think if we'd had a fit Brad Spencer in the midfield things could have been a lot different.

Up front we struggled for goals from the middle of the second quarter onwards and again we felt the loss of Brad was key. But looking at the stats its not the scoring that was actually the biggest problem but the conceding, not enough clean sheets have been our undoing, which given the performances of Jamma and Christophe is surprising. The loss of Lewis, Brad, Lang and even James Keatings along with lesser injuries and illnesses disrupted us more than it should have but it certainly threw a spanner or two in the works. After a poor third quarter we......

Depending on our run-in, the hopeful return of a fit Brad and hopefully an upsurge of confidence all round will determine how he summarises the whole campaign.

If McGlynn does leave it would be some laugh if we could convince Petrie to move on from Montrose. I’d want experience, Mixu would be my choice but I’d rather McGlynn stays.

I'm not convinced Petrie is the man either tbh and other that annoying Pars fans I cant see any reason for it.  After looking a MP's stats I'm inclined to say I'd hope we could do better, other than a successful spell at Cowden and reasonable spells in Finland, Killie and Hibs his record is pretty uninspiring. His last 3 appointments all ended with him getting him his jotters.

But like like you I cant come up with a better option so that's why I hope McGlynn stays too.

Someone else mentioned Murray at Airdrie but I'd steer clear, he was ok when he had Jack Ross with him at Dumbarton but until this season he's been hit for miss.

Mind you stats aren't everything, Kevin Thomson's stats are great but he's only managed Kelty and I think even Clod Anelka could keep that side winning.

  7. Pretty much how I see it too, folks talk about bringing in a young hungry manager, those types are always a gamble and one's with real promise are like 20 goal a season strikers, rare as hens teeth and well out of our budget.

McGlynn isn't perfect but I don't see anyone coming back with a better name to put in the frame. For every J McG there are a handful of Baz Smiths, Yogis, Lockes and Snakey McKinnons.

Did Bill Clark not say that there was a review to be taken on the managers contract after the 3rd quarter of the season?

Pretty sure we would need the supporters director confirmed before the managerial decision could be finalised...

    why?

From past incumbents of the post it seems they are frequently marginalised, if they agree then fine but if the disagree with Sim and his 3 minions their opinion counts for nowt.

  9. Two poor teams, but the home side demonstrably the poorer of the two and as such I think Rovers deservedly shaded it, BBC stats back that up too. Defensively Rovers were off it in the 1st half but in the second w tightened up none more so than Berra who was hesitant and seemed to have no confidence in the opening half, after the break he looked much better.

Midfield looked to be on top despite being depleted and the Rovers forward line much the better of the two on show until Gullan went off and both Poplatnik and Varian ran themselves to a stand still.

In Johns Post match interview Naill reckoned on 8 players missing for us including long termers Vaughan, Lang and Spencer (who's foot wasn't right after a bounce game), the other 5 Matthews (Hamstring), Zanatta (knock), Tumilty, Dick & Ross (all Sickness & Shits).  Thought Mackie was a reasonable replacement for Dick despite a slow start. Musonda doesn't have the delivery or the attacking ability of Tumilty but I'd say defensively he's more sound. Arnott did well when he replaced Gullan but if Ross had been available then perhaps we could have maintained more of an attacking threat.

Up top Varian absolutely bossed players and Poppy just never stops, so perhaps as suggested Varian in the centre with Gullan or Ross off him is the best option we have, then bring on Poppy after an hour, as we did in the earlier part of the season.

  10. Football teams and players thrive on confidence, Rovers will be much happier now with that win but so of course will  be Inverness. Yesterday ICT beat a good team at the top but by all accounts they were gifted 2 goals. There are no stand out teams in this league and any team in the top 5 that can string a run of results together can still challenge for the league. Being 11 points behind Killie I'd doubt we could and even Arbroath being 9 infront is all but insurmountable. However if Partick stumble against the Pars then they are catchable for 3rd if we are the team to go on a run.  Unlikely? Yes given how we've played it certainly is but not impossible. My main reason for optimism is as I said that there are NO STAND OUT TEAMS in this league and as such every single one of them is capable of putting in a duff string of performances. I don't rate Partick any more than I'd trate ICT, both haven't been great of late and are every bit as capable of playing shite as great, the only problem is that we're just the same. But hopefully we have turned the corner.

  11. She's local and (hopefully) lives in the town, this should help with the day to day running of the club unlike Sim and Sinton who aren't around very often.  Every new board appointment is a lottery, some do well for the club and others.... well hopefully she will turn out to be like the former.

Good luck in your new role Susan, get yer feet under the table then start getting rid of the deadwood around you. Now have you a spare £1/4M on you to bail out the board?

If this is a real question, then one answer would be “being an unrepentant rapist”

Or simply just signing (or being) a rapist? (I include both Raith and Clyde's boards). Goodwillie is probably only unrepentant on the grounds that if he said sorry he'd be admitting guilt and would face retrial and jail time (deservedly too!) but turkeys don't generally vote for Christmas. If his lawyer thought there was a least possibility he could apologise and continue his career I'd suspect he'd have done that long ago.

Sorry to be so blunt, but you are a horrible, horrible human being

I think you've taken that too far, from his posts there is no evidence what so ever he is human.

Frank did so much for this club of ours. Started with dross and made a diamond, a club to be proud of. It was an education going round the back of the dressing room to hear his half time talk. He did not mince his words. Had time for the fans as well. He will be missed. R.I.P. indeed.

He will be missed, on the subject of fans I can recall a few behind the dugout he certainly didn't miss.

    RIP Raith Rovers legend.

  14. After a few season of watching that carthorse Murray in a Rovers shirt running backwards away from attackers, it was great to watch the shitebag is still at it doing it against us, what. strike by Matthews.

St Mirren Park or Spaghettihad for the right sized arena but as has been mentioned Easter Rd would be ideal for a day out.
