  1. If we take nothing from this game, then winning or at least definitely not losing at Cappielow as well will surely be a much bigger deal than some Rovers fans are making out.

We are clearly not a team high on belief and confidence just now, should we find ourselves on zero points after 3 games we could be staring at the abyss, just look how the Pars faired after their bad start.

Hopefully IM will have them firing and the new boys will be more familiar and better with a week's training under their belts. The repeated stat of IM clearing the decks and losing early league games concerns me, not sure I have the bottle to wait 3 months for him to get it right as I doubt this division would be so generous.

Personally I’m a bit frustrated with the Berra situation. He went to the manager saying he wanted to quit after the Stirling game and then by his own admission ‘cruised’ through the following game. He left because he didn’t feel he was able to hit his own high standards. But a Berra at 90% or even 75% ability would still be invaluable to us at this very moment, in organising the defence, talking Nolan or other new signings through games and getting his head on anything that moved. Disappointed a professional like him wouldn’t want to give us another month or so of his time to give the manager more chance to find replacements and help us avoid this shambolic makeshift defence.

Perhaps Christophe was completely disenfranchised with the ongoing lack of signings defensively and reckoned that Murray was never going to sign a centre-back (how many  of us speculated Dick or Brown would feature until Lang returned?) until his hand was forced. Either that or he just came to the conclusion that RRFC are on the whole a shambles and is on a downward spiral. To such an extent he wanted out before he could be apportioned blame.

Regarding the managers office, dressing-room and boardroom I fear "there is something rotten in the state of Denmark"

Easton can play elsewhere though. A midfield two is not the place for him, he needs support and someone to cover for him. Get him wide left or in a midfield 3. He's not someone to track back and loses the ball a lot too. So dangerous if he's only got one player next to him.

On what I've seen of him so far I'd be delighted to see him ply his trade elsewhere.

We need Spencer and Matthews back because we look like a more dominant midfield with those to in it, I just hope Murray persists with the 4132 to accommodate Easton not saying he’s bad but doesn’t work for him without the right midfielder next to him or wingers try something different

My fear is that IM will prove pigheaded and incompetent enough to force the issue.

Never mind Musonda we potentially allowed 4 CBs to leave the club with little attempt to hold onto any.

Our defence last season wasnt that bad, our problems mainly lay with scoring goals.

We now have a team who are totally in transition, not the best way to be at the start of a season.

It really was, stats show in goals for we weren't massively behind the 4 teams above us, but in goals against we had almost double in some cases.

You're right though it needed a bit of a tweak, not a complete demolition.

    Dylan Easton doesn’t work in a 4.

He's not made much of a difference, wonder if he'll get selected over Rossco & Spencer when they return, I suspect he will.

John McGlynn slowly assembled a side that played possession football, IM doesn't want that and looks like he's rapidly dismantling it, so in the mean time....

    We're fucked!

Why is anyone surprised at this, can’t defend, 3 new players in there and one of them isn’t a defender. I might be boring I might prattle on but this is down to Murray , if we are too nice then sort it , it’s going to be a long season and we will tread water at best. I don’t care how many sound bites he comes out with or buzz words. Get them drilled on the training pitch

No feeling of surprise in this quarter.

We have been going backwards as a club since the turn of the year (perhaps even since last Autumn). The current board might comprise successful people in the business world but in the football world they are rank amateurs.........and it shows.

  8. Televised football has played a major role in killing attendences.

If you green light televising/streaming lesser league stuff where does it stop? Also players thrive on atmosphere, most hated playing to empty stands.

I've long said we should move to a summer season but if you can't persuade fans to attend in good weather perhaps we should just call it a day.

  9. Some quotes and my thoughts on them.

"We haven't played a single league game yet.  If we go the first three games of the season without picking up a single point and Murray is still struggling to bring players in then I could understand being upset

No we haven't but we've been held by two lower league sides that I'm sure a Raith side of the last 3 seasons would have dispatched. That we don't start the league campaign well is my main worry, but why shouldn't supporter be upset with the fact that we couldn't get out of an easy group and picked up a cash tie against Rangers?  Reason enough to be annoyed in my book.

"We all know, Murray included, that we're short on centre-halves, more so this week than last, but I genuinely cannot think of a single one who is available in Scotland that I'd like to see here."

Yet this isn't news is it? This has been the case since he came into the job 65 days ago, true it has been exacerbated by the retirement of Berra but IM has had over 2 months to do something about it and as I type we are NOW less than 48 hours from the opening league fixture.  The fact that CH's are a rare commodity in this country make it even more ludicrous that we now allowed FOUR of the 5 who played last season to slip away.

Now before some knob jumps in with the apparent fav phrase of the moment "knicker wetting" Surely a better question is how can any supporter of the Rovers not be concerned? Even if Murray signs two central defenders and a striker today they will be complete strangers to their teammates up at the Balmoral Stadium. God how I wish we'd kept Musonda and McKay.

  10. If this Aberdeen 4th choice left back is signing then I will really have no words.

Prior to Spencers injury we already had a very good options in midfield to pick from, and attacking midfield options in Zanatta, Ross and Connolly yet Murray goes out and signs 2 midfielders!

Where as in attack we had virtually nothing doing other than Gullan and some kids... we still don't.

In defence we lost 3 central defenders and a right back, a new rightback came in but no centrebacks. To complicate matters further we then lose the only available dedicated and experienced centre back we have. What is Murray's apparent reaction to this calamity?  Sign another leftback! Fair fucks we only had 2 on the books anyway.🤔

My concern like some others is that we come away with nothing from Cove or at home to Dundee and straight away we are looking up at the rest of the division going onwards. If there's a manual at Starks Park on how to make a small provincial club reasonably successful then I suggest they read it from P 1 to the conclusion not backwards!

See guys it’s not all bad this season 😂😂🤦‍♂️

Signings to be choreographed with FFP being released on line tomorrow ?

Once was the time when this would likely have been the case but these days instant media combined with the fact that the paper has become such a complete nonentity make it just one of the reasons it’s unlikely.

  12. Just another eventful day as a Rovers fan.

Surprised? A bit. Upset? Nah It's just another blow in a year full of them.

Murray binned 15 players at Airdrie last season. So far one way or another it seems we've lost 10 (11 if god forbid Mcdonald has joined Berra) of last seasons squad (Inc loanees) so maybe only another 4 or 5 to go?

We've gone from a reasonably solid if unspectacular defence (2021-22) to a leaky defence (2022-23) to no defence (2023-24).
