  1. Scotland topped their group in the desert T20 thing then got predictably dicked by Ireland in the semis. Ireland vs Afghan in the final now. Hales out the England tour with a broken hand.
  2. Would do them in the order they came out. Blood and Wine is a great way to finish and arguably the most fun, certainly a lot of light hearted anachronisms / pop culture references though I still don't know what the accents in Toussaint are meant to be. edit: if you like the fairy tales references, there's a huge mission in B&W which is basically Geralt fighting all the well known antagonists of those
  3. For some reason I can't edit my previous post, but was going to say since I'm quiet at work I had a look at both Gladbach and Koln sites Gladbach isn't looking promising as they have tickets on sale for games in April and May but the Bayern one isn't listed. Koln site says free sale for Hertha game goes on sale 7th Feb and you don't need any loyalty points so you should have a reasonable shout at a ticket there.
  4. Off their websites is fine, you might need to faff about a bit with Google translate but you can normally sign up free of charge. They'll sell to ST holders first for home games though before they go on general sale. Cologne would probably be your best bet as I assume most teams will sell out vs Bayern. On the flip side, the viagogo tickets shouldn't be too bad for Dortmund against Ingolstadt. If you go to Cologne then the Cathedral is literally right next to the main train station, so you can take some photos there and that's your touristy bit done.
  5. Apart from our first season up when the squad need major surgery and we signed about half a dozen players and let the same amount go, signings in the last 2 January windows have all been done late on, 2nd season Booth was 28th Jan and Taylor deadline day and last year both Nesbitt and German were deadline day. I’m not expecting anything too different this year.
  6. Shouting about AIDS shouldn't be funny, but they manage to achieve it.
  7. That Wetherspoons on Waverley Bridge has all the lack of atmosphere of your standard Wetherspoons with the added fucknope of non-Wetherspoons prices, was £4 for your cooking lagers (TL / Carling / Fosters) and more for everything else. Only went in as I'd just missed the train, had half an hour til the next one and the bar in the station is a midden.
  8. Spot on. In my experience the train to Dortmund is mobbed anyway, think the conductors know 90% of folk on the train will have match tickets so no point in fighting through the crowd. You don't actually mind getting to the ground early over there because you can get a beer and a bratwurst / kebab/ chips / all of the above and take it to your seat, OK you pay a wee bit more for scran and bevvy inside the stadium compared to outside but it's still worth it.
  9. Naw, provided you have match tickets in hand, which if you're printing them at home you will, so you don't need to pay for those trains. Only train you'll need to pay for is to / from Dusseldorf Airport to Dusseldorf central station, think it's about 3 euros each way. Like I say, never seen a conductor (and there's no automatic barriers at the station) but it's a 60 euro fine I think if you're caught. edit: I've assumed you're flying into Dusseldorf, ignore that if not
  10. Aye, in the Rhein-Ruhr area. All the teams you've mentioned in your post above will be covered by it- only thing is that you cant use it on the ICE / IC trains, only regional ones. Dusseldorf- Dortmund is about 50 minutes each way then go downstairs and follow the crowd onto the U-bahn out to the ground. Only times I've ever seen ticket inspectors on German trains / trams/ u-bahn is the ICE ones and the train to / from Berlin Airport. If you don't have a ticket, don't think playing the dumb tourist routine works.
  11. Watched the Lokeren highlights, fair to say TC kept that from being an uber beasting, though Devine in the first half had an absolute shitemare. Good strike by Lawless and Azeez, well, he got it over the line so that'll help. Less said about the defending in the second half the better, Keown gets beaten for pace for 2 & 5, and the 3rd Ridgers literally passes the ball straight to one of their players 25 yards out.
  12. Forgot to post this yesterday as I was on my phone when I read it and my fingers were freezing, but... Yesterday was the 20th anniversary of the 0-0 draw between St Johnstone and Thistle in Perth on Sky, that was such a bad game that Sky didn't touch the lower league in Scotland again until Rangers died.
  13. Decent effort from Broad here with a modicum of luck https://grabyo.com/g/v/N0OV1vXbnAU
  14. I'm not that old and my dad is no longer with us to ask. I know it was the St George's cross bus in the 80s, maybe Castle Vaults? Maybe wasn't even a pub but seems unlikely.
  15. The Jackie Husband bus ran from the Royalty from (about) 1994 to when it stopped running in the early 2000s, after a falling out with the then landlord at the Woodside who had painted over all the Thistle stuff after taking over from the previous landlady. The Royalty at that time was obviously more aligned to the other arse cheek but the staff were excellent, welcomed Thistle fans and put up Thistle memorabilia on the walls etc, they got right into it to the extent that for the cup semi final in 2002 the owners were in the Thistle end. Again, following a change of owner the pendulum swung back the other way and it is now uber-*** while the Woody is (reasonably) Thistle-friendly. Although I was of the same opinion as H Wragg that the interviews in GTT were in Munn's, think there's footage of a player of the year night in the Polish club round the corner from the Royalty, which I was at but thankfully avoided the cameras.
  16. You know made up transfer rumours are weak when TL isn't buying them.
  17. Mikael Mandron plays for Eastleigh, might be a DOUBLE SWOOP. That concludes my mention of Mikael Mandron for this transfer window.
  18. I agree on that, but I think there must be some kind of better source that's going about if not made public, e.g. in the Azeez article how did they get the exact shot locations / directions from the rickety BBC "shot from inside the box (left)" type commentary you refer to plus some of the other ones e.g. the SPFL Radar guy just wouldn't be available with that info. Of course, they could be making it all up...
  19. I enjoy articles like that but it doesn't account for the average power of his shots, which despite him being built like a brick shithouse have the power of a 7 year old girl as he sclaffs them, or he tries to chip the keeper and gently passes it back to him. Taylor (who also missed a good few) scored at least a couple of goals by just wellying it as hard as possible and the ball ricocheting in off the keeper, but there's probably a happy medium. FWIW if I had to pick any of our players when through one on one I'd take Erskine.
  20. Aye, the vast majority of footage from that period on youtube seems to be against both arse cheeks which are invariable pumpings tho I'm sure the Burns hat trick vs Killie is on it. Would love to see the game again where we pumped Livi 5-2 in the season we went down & Anis played like Cafu on drugs. Plenty of stuff from the 90s spell in the premier league and the odd clip from further back (71 LC final excepted as there's obvs loads of that). I'm sure I've got the 00-01 and 01-02 season VHSs converted to DVD somewhere in my mum's loft but the club must have a few copies lying around somewhere unless Campbell Hughes took them all when he left.
  21. Not much going on with the team in Spain. Noticed that Jagzone starting to upload 90 minute reruns of games, much as I love both football and Thistle I don't think I've got the patience to sit through a 90 minute re-run, I did watch the last 5 minutes of the Morton match. Would be good if they could upload the old highlights that were on the previous site from 2009 onwards plus some old footage if any available (I know some is on youtube).
  22. I've been over 3 times in the last 4 years at the September weekend with another couple of posters on here, the 4th I didn't go because I was... in Dortmund watching Germany vs Scotland 3 weeks before so didn't fancy two trips in short order. Booked up for this September We fly to Dusseldorf and stay near the main train station, it's cheap digs in that area, the hotels aren't world class but if you're there for a bevvy weekend you're not too bothered. You're only about 15 minutes walk away from the Altstadt which has about a million bars. By being handy for the train station you can get to all the places I'm about to list really quickly- think Dortmund at 50 minutes is the furthest away, and if you have a match ticket in advance that will double as your train ticket. If you stay in that area then you have the following teams to choose from Dortmund, Leverkusen, Schalke, Gladbach & Cologne in BL1. Bochum and Dusseldorf in BL2, and Duisburg in BL3 as well as loads of semi pro / amateur teams in the leagues below- if you're staying the Sunday night then a lower league game on a Sunday might be a decent idea, beer is scandalously cheap and if the weather is decent, but obviously travelling over purely to see a 5th tier game is a bit hipster. You can even get to VVV Venlo on the Dutch / German border. For policing reasons about half these teams will be at home regardless of when you book for so you've got a decent choice, exact kick off times get confirmed in blocks a few weeks / months in advance. In terms of tickets, Dortmund and Schalke are always seatwave / viagogo efforts, at Dortmund they always announce the attendance as a sell out regardless of seat occupation. We were at Gladbach earlier in the season and got face value tickets for 20 euros but that was a game vs Ingolstadt so relatively low demand, a derby game would be a lot harder. I've been to Cologne, again was earlier this season and tickets were nearly sold out but they'd had a great start to the season and we got face value ones for about 33 euros. Also seemed a decent place for a night out but we had to go back to Dusseldorf. I've only been in the terracing amongst Duisburg fans (despite being in 3rd tier they still get 10k plus for most games) but if you're there then prepare to miss seeing a lot of the game with those massive fucking flags being waved in front of you, also heard that the terrace at Dortmund is a nightmare to get back to your spot if you go for a piss/ pint. I've been there to see Dortmund twice in the stand at the other end and found the atmosphere a bit forced, albeit again it was against bottom of the league teams, might be better for a bigger team, flipside being the seatwave tickets will be more expensive. Enjoyed the atmosphere at Cologne, partly because they were playing the reviled RB Leipzig, and partly because their club song is to the tune of Loch Lomond. Fairly certain you'll have a good time regardless of what game you choose.
  23. Assumed Storey would head back to Inverness on loan, especially if Tansey was going the other way, but don't know if relations between those two clubs have disintegrated with recent transfer business. I'd take him. Expecting 2 guys from England I've never heard of, one on loan, one on a free. Both on deadline day.
  24. The new episode is brilliant, it's another musical episode but quite different from the Nightman Cometh episode.
