A View From The Terrace.

Open Goal was good for about a fortnight. Si Ferry’s interview style (“so what was that like eh”) soon begins to grate - he’s a one trick pony - and it’s then entirely down to the guest and whether you like them. The guy Slane meanwhile is an utter f@nny and seems to have zero redeeming features. He’s made it unwatchable/unlistenable. -
It’s really not going to happen though is it. They gave him a 2 year deal a couple of weeks ago. They ain’t sacking him anytime soon and Murray won’t take the assistant role!! Try to look on the positive side, the season we won the league under Sandy Stewart, when Kenny Black was appointed assistant it made a huge difference and we kicked on from there. Maybe Cameron will have the same effect...

Yes. Luckily all other players and supporters in the ground were Protestant so avoided our wrath. “Boab” Douglas. Trying too hard.

Love how the club talks about us getting a fee for Cammy, Scott Stewart etc. Realistically what’s it going to have been? A bag of balls and a set of bibs? The chat of cashing in on players because they only had a year of their contract left (in a league where the majority are signed for a season at a time and no one really pays transfer fees) was baffling. Sorry to see him go anyway. Seems like first team football was key here and can’t blame him at his age. Hopefully Murray has someone in mind to replace him. Still plenty of time and he obviously didn’t see him as being a key part of his plans.

The irony of all this is that the Trust and current owners worked toGeTher to make all this happen. Even engaging Mark Pirrie to help. No question those in charge have been key to the club in terms of where we now are and how we move forward. Not in doubt. However there’s clearly been a break down in relationships, which for me has been detrimental to both and ultimately gutting. Over time, with new blood in the Trust, I’d hope (as I said before) bridges can be built. The suggestion anyone wants the club to fail is ridiculous and disingenuous. I’m not sure who the new accounts are that have popped up recently but for me it’s creating trouble for the sake of it. Everyone should be getting behind the team.

Are the bollocks not stopped? The advertiser article was driven by Mark Pirrie. The Trust should have have given a no comment in hindsight but Pirrie is a Trust member and had access to the info. No one as far as I believe approached them on the subject. The share issue was important - but the club ended that by giving the shares certificate. Credit there. I don’t think anyone wants a fight now. There’s an acceptance that the relationship is broke currently. It won’t be repaired. The old guard will step down from the Trust though and hopefully new volunteers will come forward and those bridges can be built. I think everyone is behind the club/team regardless. Anyone I know on either side doesn’t want failure. They should be given the work that’s been put in. GoT to name those those that aren’t that might be stirring it I’d think? We know people on here have had multiple accounts in the past. It’s not helpful.

Bottom line is Murray deserves a run with his own team before being judged. His hands were tied in terms of how we could play last season due to a general lack of creativity. The club has backed him and done well to have cleared so many out. The new players deserve a little bit of time to settle in too - judging on a couple of (effectively) pre season games when it’s by in large new doesn’t seem fair. There’s one or two I’d have kept that have left but I get the reason for them being moved. Time will tell if the new approach will work, we just need to get on with it and see now (with fingers cross it does).

I’d agree with this. He definitely didn’t kick on last year as expected. Don’t know much about Smith but everybody was saying on the back of Saturday that we needed a goal scorer. If he fits the bill and we’ve received a fee for Edwards could be decent business. I liked Edwards though and he had plenty potential.

Agree, just clarifying as I’d missed it out my original summary and worth noting. Think there’s effectively one left to put money in? Could be equity swap, perhaps could be an agreement with favourable terms over stadium rental across x amount of years in some way. Who knows. I think the importance of promotion shouldn’t be overlooked though - we certainly look like we want to give it a go (got to give credit for managing the overhaul that’s taken place) so fingers crossed.

The bulk of it was the shares being given by the club to the Trust. However the club also informed the Trust that they’re planning another share issue which will see the Trust shareholding % diluted (so give with one hand and take away with the other - but fair enough, they are entitled to do so). No idea why - e.g. more money needed or for ownership (control) reasons. There was also the announcement of the Trust splitting - the charity work the Trust has been doing will now done under the banner of ‘Diamonds in the Community’. It will be an extension of what is done now but extend further into the community and include other sports. As a result some of the Trust Committee will be resigning and are now trustees of DitC. They’ve been given charity status which is something that has been in the planning for a long time. And the message throughout was that the Trust hope that all parties concerned can find a way to get along and work together again.

No, essentially I wasn’t. And you’ve used quotation marks for something I didn’t say. I also didn’t say that they shouldn’t celebrate where they finished (you can be happy with your league position but fail in the play offs - 3 teams fail in this respect each season). Good try. Anyway, I’m sure we’re boring everyone so let’s move on.

Seriously, what are you talking about? I didn’t slag Montrose or comment on how they are run as a club. I stated that finishing in the play offs and not getting promoted has the same result as finishing eg 5th. Which for me is failure (looking at it from an Airdrie perspective - I’m sure eg Raith will feel the same). It was a response to a Montrose fan having a dig that they finished above us. My opinion is it doesn’t matter unless you go up. I’ll feel exactly the same this season. For the record I’m more than aware of Montrose’s recent history and give them the utmost respect. However if Airdrie do what they did last season I won’t be celebrating. We need out this league.
