  1. 1 year only, 4 conferences of 11 (kelty & Brora included) split based on season just ended, 3 premier teams in each (rangers & Celtic must be in the same one for TV).

Top 3 in each conference qualify for premiership 21/22.

42 team division. Each team plays the other four times, twice home, twice away. 82 games each, one every 3 days. No postponements regardless of the weather, pitch conditions or international weekends. At the end of that, use the league standings to divide the teams into 3 divisions of 12-12-14. Award Falkirk the championship and put Hearts and Partick into the Welsh league, Celtic and Sevco into the Marianas Trench.

    Everybody wins.

I think both systems have their pros. Neither would be particularly disastrous.

I think the main problem for 14 is the timing of the split. Would be mid January & would only need a few weeks of bad weather to delay the whole season.

We had a game called off in october this year that never got a date because there were no dates available until possibly after the split in March. How is that going to work for January.

I'd prefer trying a 16 team league with a later split but that isnt even being considered.

  3. A 13 team top league is the obvious answer, promote 1 team in from each division & relegate noone. This makes room for one of Kelty or Brora.

Does mean 2 teams getting relegated next season. Also 1 team would be automatically relegated from League 2. Everything else would remain the same.

Maybe use average points for the extra relegation so this season still counts?

    So is this right?

26 games before the split, not like current set up which is 33.

Based on this season, the split would be 3 weeks after the winter break (mid Feb)

And there would then be 14 games in the split instead of the current 5.

Imagine being safely in 7th spot,  you basically have 14 meaningless games - i.e one third of the fixtures being effectively pointless.

    What is the point????

I think the main point might be fitting all the games in. Just takes a couple of week of bad weather & theyll struggle to get the games played by end of January.

Heard a rumour that 12-12-18 could be back on the cards with the 8-8-8 split in the top 2 divisions.

All other ideas have little chance of getting voted through by the premiership teams. Hearts may have to take relegation but this would give them the best or easiest way to get promoted next season.

The problem with that system was the middle 8 going back to 0 points at the merge point.

Also a team confirmed  in the bottom 4 playing a title contender just before the split would have no incentive to win as they would lose the points anyway.
